I refer to Donald Duck & Co in general. I can't remember that they have ever
have told their Norwegian readers that Paul Murry worked another way than
creators like Barks and Rosa. As long as nothing else is stated, most
readers are lead to believe that Barks is the norm.

Gemstone's "Donald Duck Adventures" Free Comic Book Comments
Message 32 -

I picked up Gemstone's "Donald Duck Adventures" free giveaway book for Free
Comic Book Day today, and I'm definitely impressed. The color is among the
best I've seen in a Disney comic, proving that color has definitely come
along way since the 1990 Gladstone reprint of the same story--"Maharajah
Donald."
I seem to remember reading somewhere that this story was censored, but I've
yet to see any changes, so I don't think it's too blatant. I'd have to look
harder, which I haven't bothered to do yet.
I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a big splash-page explanation of
Carl Barks, to introduce to new readers. Gemstone doesn't seem to be as
appreciative as the older works as Gladstone was, but I'm not asking them to
be--I like the idea of a focus on newer, European material. Still, there
could have been some kind of Carl Barks explanation, for those new readers
picking up their Free Comic Book.
Overall, I'd say this book is worth the $5 Gemstone is requesting to receive
a copy directly. After all, I'm sure it will be hard to find...

Today was "Free Comic Book Day" in the United States. Comic book stores
around the country were giving out free comics to kids in hopes of
attracting new readers.
I received my monthly package of comics in the mail today, and was surprised
to see my subscription service had included 10 free comics published
especially for today's event. One of them was a "Donald Duck Adventures"
published by Gemstone.
Gemstone selected to reprint "Boys' and Girls' March of Comics" #4, a free
shoe store giveaway comic from 1947.
Also included in the issue are Gemstone's plans for upcoming comics, which
are probably detailed on their website, but I'll summarize anyway.
"Walt Disney's Comics and Stories" and "Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge" begin
monthly runs in June.
A series of 5 1/2" by 7 1/2", 128 page square bound pocket books begins in
July. The first book will be "Donald Duck Adventures". How often these
books will be published isn't specified. They mention "on a regular basis".
In September, two more monthly comics begin, each being the more traditional
32 page format. The titles are "Donald Duck" and "Mickey Mouse". Both are
said to feature a Donald Duck and a Mickey Mouse story in each issue, plus
other back-ups.

After sending that mail to DCML, I received a private answer from S?ren:

I checked then checked the e-mail size: 122 KiB. So S?ren seems to be
right. At first I assumed that it was just an ordinary mail sent from
the DCML server, but this suggests otherwise. Some headers:

Hi all!
Today I have recieved two strange mails from other Donaldist-friends. First
a mail from Nils Lid Hjort, witch make no sense at all to me. Then there is
the recent mail from Stefan Persson in where he responds to another
pointless mail.
So can anyone tell me what's going on?
Lately, I have registered an increased level of spam activity towards this
e-mail adress, so perhaps todays strange mails is somehow related to that.
Maybe our Danish friend S?ren Krarup Olesen could look at this?
By the way recently I read that some american scientists studied how spam
works in hope of finding proper counter measures. They concluded that e-mail
adresses should be scrambeled before being published on the internet, for
example:
<dcml at stp.ling.uu.se> could be written:
<dcml @ stp.ling.uu.se> or
<dcml at nospam.stp.ling.uu.se>
in order to avoid spam. Can this be done to e-mail-adresses in DCML-messages
before they are published on-line?
Sigvald :-)

Please, let's not waste time and space on this mailing list dealing with
something as off-topic as viruses. Do instead forward the e-mail(s) in
question to me, then I'll see what it's all about (if I can of course).

Yes, there do. A few that I think of are:
Bill Walsh (writer) and Manuel Gonzales (artist): about twenty years of
great Mickey Mouse Sunday pages, starting in the early 1940s. Invented
Ellsworth and created an entire genre of Goofy gags, where Goofy naively
stumbles into strange, paranormal situations that can only happen to him.
Dick Kinney (writer) and Al Hubbard (artist): working for the Studio
Program in the 1960s, they invented the original, good versions of Fethry
and Hard Haid Moe. Their stories have a wild, almost radio-show type of
verbal humor going on.
Fred Milton and Daan Jippes were a sort of duo for a long time, but both
did some drawing and both did some writing on their team-ups. Together they
tended to do Donald 10-pagers in the classical Carl Barks style.

I can't find any articles about Murry in DD&Co. I've found one article
about him
(Aargangsbok 1953 I). The article states:
"In contrast to Barks he was a only an artist, not a scriptwriter"
and
"Murry was extraodinarily hard-working and efficient. He received scripts
and drew
all kinds of suff."
well... I rest my case
