Mark. That cold treatment is not only childish, but really mean. Let's
people bickering. People like Sigvald (or me, I am a really pain in the
tuches) are the salt of the Earth.
Please, take your cents and buy a candy :)

An how's that look? A modern "dipshit"-look like HD&L in German covers?
Anyway isn't it some kind of disrespect for Barks to change the look of his
characters to much?

Vulle Vuojas upcoming?

*Vulle Vuojas* is Donald Duck in the Sami language.
Vulle Vuojas was published as a weekly in 1987-88, 32 issues in total. Shut down due to economical reasons.
Anyone having taught themselves the art of reading by reading again and again their Disney comics, will easily understand how important a comic book in your own language is!
In 2002 I read about the plans to restart the Sami edition of Donald Duck weekly. Estimates suggests less than 2 millions NOK a year for translation and printing costs. Down the big drain, this is petty cash. Hence I really hope this project is an upcoming one.
Anyone having an update? The Egmont guys?

Yep. Or, best of all, take it up privately. When for instance I've asked
emailing technical questions, I get responses in private email, which is
perfect. I'm not really fond of the "ignore someone till he/she shuts
up"-method, since I don't think it's a good way. At least not if it's
total ignore (that's not what you said, I know, I just came to think of it
as something unnice). But only ignore the "irritating" stuff, and not
entire person, that sounds like a far better alternative. As with
everything - if there's nothing to say, just don't. Or say something else.
(some of) this bunch of dcml:ers have more and more turned into a family
of nagging siblings, where there is something irritating you just can't
get yourself rid of. In a family where do such things lead? Yep, only one
way. So what's the point in persuing it? Childish behaviour if you ask me
(or rather, immature, childishness is not something I'd like to say as a
negative thing). Besides, a truth I might already have mentioned is: when
someone gets irritated on something with someone else, the fault very
often lies with yourself (Which means that I probably have something to
look into with myself, since I get a bit irritated with this... yep -
there's probably a tendecy in me to argue about things that don't lead
anywhere... at least I know there used to be. But, you can always change a
bit, that's a very nice thing. But *only* you yourself, if you want to...
so don't bother about others, just accept them as they are (unless they do
something illegal, but I strongly doubt that it's the case here)) (wow
that was a long parenthesis) (if you ask, I know that I can't change
anyone of you either, but one can always put up subtle signs along the
way, no? :)

Sigvald said something very good before - that everyone responding is
responsible for keeping the thread alive. (I'm doing the same, I guess...

Time for a commercial break: I visited the new DCML-OT BBS-lookalike

I think it could become pretty fun, a good combination between a mailing

Why mention only me by name? It looks like you need someone particularly to
blame for the current situation here at DCML. Your message may be serious in
itself, but it doesn't inspire me to much to change my behavior as I am
being personal attacked - and I feel that's because I may present to you
some non-mainstream opinions from time to time. I think that our Swedish

In Finland we don't get toys with comics but Aku Ankka still is
read by children of all ages (from 4 to 100 years, about). Of course
the Finnish situation can't be one-to-one compared with Norway and
the rest of the Scandinavia for several reasons.
Firstly, I remember hearing/reading from somewhere that the Scandinavian
weeklies need toys since big part of their circulation comes from
single copy sales while Aku Ankka is mostly subscribed so it doesn't
need these child baits.
Naturally there might be a cultural reasons too. The Finnish children
aren't as used to toy gifts with magazines as Scandinavians so
publishers don't have to use them here. For example W.i.t.c.h. became
popular here even without gifts. (There is the magic boom going on but still:
no gifts, plain comics.) But anyway, from this point of view it is a bit sad
if the gifts are so important for child readers even in countries like Norway
(after all, _all_ the children _must_ love Disney comics :-) ).
On the other hand...
>plus we have Donald Pocket, Mikke Mus M?nedshefte, Skrue
>Pocket, Fantonald
...you still have Paperinik publication (possibly thanks to the toys?).
For that, I'm envious.

That was not how I read your statement. This is DCML so I logically
concluded that you were adressing Disney-comics (abuot the Ducks and Mouses)
only. I am sorry for me being confused by your first mail.
Anyway I think this shows by there are problems at DCML for the time being -
either other people are confuesed by my mails or the other way ariound I am

Why this unfriendly tone? I was *not* "frothing" before and I am *not*
"frothing" now. I was just answering your mail as if it was concerning
Disney Comics based on the Ducks and Mouses, only.

anticipating their arrival and want to have the first issues coming out in June and so on
in the mail since there are no comic shops near my location. Any info. would
greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
I haven't been reading the mail lately so I have this question:
Is there any information that there will be publications of Mr.Don Rosa's stories in the United States? I've read that will be publishing European artists in manga sized books, but the information having to do with format (and most importantly) time of Mr. Rosa's and Bark's stories is rather sketchy.
Is there any word passing through the grapevine? Or what I stated above all there is?
Oh, and I know Mr.Rosa passes by every once in a while, so ...I love your work Mr.Rosa, you're not forgotten in the States!

I've read Aku Ankka for 30 years and I must say it's very clearly targeted
for more older audience today than just mere ten years ago. Aku Ankka has
more or less serious articles about comics (mostly about Disney, but some
others too). Latest issue of AA had reviews of comics like Blueberry and
some others that are not for small children.
