Well, if this is a road sign, it will usually *not* give the air-line
distance. So where's the contradiction? ;-)

As far as I know/remember Murry did only pencilling, inking just at very
beginning. Never coloring. I could check Duckburg Times with Murry
interview, when I get back home.

Murry didn't ink his own artwork?
Aren't you mixing him up with Strobl?

Guest appearance
Message 66 -

Hello all, Months ago, I visited a comic collector in the North of the netherlands, to check his huge collection of disney (and mainly non-disney) magazines. During these visits, he also showed me some other comics, and thumbing through these, I noticed some "guest-appearances" of Disney characters in none-disney comics. (for instance: in one dutch comic, the leading character is visiting a bar, and in this bar, we also see some disney characters). We started to make a list of these guest appearances, and we could use some help. So: if you know of any appearance of disney characters in non-disney comis (dutch or non-dutch) I would be very interested in hearing from you. Thanks, Ageagememnon75 at yahoo.com

1)
That distance is still way to long for that to be realistic.
2)
Given that Duckburg is located in the North-American western coast and that
"Langvekkistan" is located in sentral-Asia (that's where countries with
names ending with "-stan" normally are located) the distance would be 9995
km rather than 99950 km. And in that case some of the distance would also be
at sea which indeed means air-line distance for that part of the distance.
Sigvald :-)

Indeed, I remembered wrongly:
Excerpt from Klaus Spillmann interview (1982):
"Q: Did you write the script and did you do the pencils, inks and lettering
all by yourself?
A: I did everything but the script."
However, I might have remembered this line:
"Q: [about newspaper strips]What did you do in the beginning - writing
stories, doing pencils, inks?
A: I did pencil art only for strips."
Klaus Spillmann/Duckburg Times #16, Jan. 1, 1983
So for comic books he did all, except scripting.
(Murry did José Carioca, Panchito and Uncle Remus for newspapers)

Brazilian miracle: credits on Disney Comics!
Message 71 -

I'm happy to inform you that FINALLY Editora Abril will began to publish the
autor's credits this year!!!
They've informed us that this will began in the new foreing stories, and on
the republished foreing stories, if posssible to recover the names (let see
a way...Inducks!). About the brazilian stories, Abril can decide if they
want to publish or not the credits (off course we'll atack the publisher if
they don't do that! ;-).
Abril are just now REprinting brazilian stories (Grrrr!), but most of this
B-Coded information are collected by Arthur and me on the Inducks. I hope
this will open new ways to us, brazilian indexers, to collect the brazilian
creators'infos!
Fernando! :o)

Barks quote quiz (Barks Trivia)

We used to have a few quote quizzes, a decade ago.
I planned to revive this habit, but I'm still lacking the time...
Here's an old quote quiz, just for fun.
It was posted by Per Starb?ck on August 5, 1992.
Anyone: please *don't* answer on the mailing list! This will
spoil the fun for others.
I'll mail the answers next week or so.
All you have to do is to identify the stories the following thirteen
quotes are from.
Note that all quotes are from stories by Carl Barks:
1. "Calling all cars! Calling all cars! Angry duck wrecking
dining car at sixth and `D' streets! That is all!"
2. "Down with H'America!"
3. "I demand that you give a *billion dollars* to the L.T.A.B.!"
4. "Life won't be worth *living* without my starfish!"
5. "Notice the powerful action of the ejector! Yet see how
gently it places decorations on the frosting!"
6. "Now I'll grind up the *rabbit*!"
7. "Plinky plinky --- feep week --- womp bomp --- squeek squeek"
8. "Regional artifacts of the early rhubarbian era contain the
most interesting worm holes --- blah --- blah!"
9. "Tantalium! Youguessium! Nosuchium!"
10. "That's it! Jump in the ocean and swim back to Japan!"
11. "Two hundred cawrs, ninety kerwawks, four thousand tweets,
eight tillion twitters, and sixty chuk chuks south by
southeast!"
12. "Waitah, what's the swankiest dish your cook can sling
together?"
13. "You'd be a pip on my radar --- A wow on the video! ---
We could sing bebop in a helicop' --- on our way to a movie show!"
--Harry.
(I was the winner at the time - but only 4 people attended...)
