Due to medical reasons (mine, mainly), Sue and I were unable to
attend the grand opening of Geppi's Entertainment Museum, but we did
get a look at it back in May while it was still under construction.
Gotta say, if the amount of planning we saw then has been carried
through, it's gotta be one amazing place! We're really looking
forward to getting back and seeing it in all its glory.

After attending a Geppi Entertainment Museum Opening last night for Retailers
at the Baltimore Summit, I can tell you it is much more than a Comic Museum.
It has something for every age to say: "I had that!" Some of the most
spectacular Movie posters I have ever seen. Original art and strip art that would
make any fan say: "I want that!" Hallways and rooms that are very professionally
done from frames to displays. The comics and Big Little Books are
impressive. The older material such as a Ben Franklin newspaper cartoon, Mechanical
banks, old TV sets with Lucy and Howdy Doody playing, theme rooms of music, toys,
etc.,everthing is in such fantastic condition. Mr. Geppi was just as excited
as we were and when we first entered, he took a small group of us on a tour.
There were Grand Openings on Wed. and Thursday for other groups but this was
the first time the group was more of a size to walk around. The evening was
really enjoyable for everyone.

I fully concur with the early rave reviews on GEM. It's an absolute must-see if you visit this area -- and it will be even better once a few wrinkles are smoothed out. For example, a few docents to explain the significance of certain items wouldn't hurt.

In a recent story (D 2005-107 "Good Dog, Bad Day"), there is a
scene where Pluto plays in a junkyard (page 6). Here he meets
some dogs.

Some of us have been debating the identity of these dogs.
Might they be characters from the Scamp newspaper strip?

Greetings I thought I was the only person silly enough to collect these
cards after the series had finished - When I used to travel around the world
I was always loooking for them! I have two spare Bolivars and would be very
happy to swap it for a #3 Yellow Beak. Am always on the lookout for Carl
Barks Trading Cards that came with the Gladstone hard covers.

Nope, I collect them also. I'm missing just #6 BEY OF EL DAGGA but have
spares of #3 Yellow Beak, #7 Huey, Dewey & Louie, and #8 Black Pete. I'd be
willing to trade all three of my spares for the missing #6.

I was glad to hear the Barks trading cards mentioned again. They bring
back fond memories from about five years ago when I started
systematically picking up those volumes and discovered to my shock that
the early WDC&S ones had the cards randomly inserted. (Which was a
dirty trick.) I believe that practice stopped after #8 so the rest of
the ten-pagers plus the 25 DDAs plus the 56 Uncle Scrooge volumes had
consecutive cards.

The card #3 was a problem for me for a long time as my copy of #3 came
with card #4. It was sad having to ask various ebay sellers which card
their issues 1-4 came from. For a long time I needed to buy a #4 with
card #3 to "fix" the problem. I finally gave up and bought an extra #3
with card #3!

So yes, many of us understand collecting these "silly things." :)
