If you don't know who Warren Spector is, he's the game designer behind
the recent Epic Mickey for the Wii and the classic game Deus Ex. He's
stated that he would love to make a Duck Tales game, but seeing as
Disney has dissolved Juction Point, Mr. Spector's Game Studio, and is
phasing out of the console game business, this may be the next best thing.

Apparently, someone figured out a way to raise sunken ships using
"smaller, more buoyant bodies" and was awarded patents in 1965 in the UK
and Germany. They tried to get a Dutch patent as well, but the Dutch
refused the patent because there was "prior art": a 1945 Carl Barks
Donald Duck story.
Incidentally, sorry about my last e-mail subject. That should have read
"Warren Spector to Pen Ducktales _Comic_" not Game.

Woah, let's not get ahead of ourselves! Last time I checked, Junction Point still exists; it's only had a few layoffs. (Unless you know something I don't?) And Disney isn't quite phasing out of the console business; they're just shifting some of their resources from that space to the social games space.
Epic Mickey is great, by the way. I suspect almost everyone who has a reason to read this list would find something to be excited about in it.

In this case, I suppose any science-fiction story which happened to use
and describe that method would fit as prior art. It is fun, thanks for
sharing!

*Some* Americans can tell the difference (even if we can't truly read either one

& Co, Anders And or Donald Duck as German or can't even hazard a guess as to
what the country of origin is.
On a more serious note, I sent an email to list member Shaun Craill, who at
least at the time of last year's earthquake had been living?around Christchurch,
New Zealand, inquiring after his and his family's well being.? Shaun replied
that all was well with him and his immediate family; they have actually been
living elsewhere in New Zealand.??I would, however,?like to ask everyone to keep
family and friends from whom Shaun and his family have not yet had news in your
thoughts and/or prayers.? It is?rewarding to be connected by this wonderful
hobby/interest, but for any hobby, when it comes down to it, it's the people
that make it all worthwhile.? We are all fortunate that Disney tends to
emphasize that regardless of it being ducks and mice!

Wow. Amazing...taking into account that it takes less than a minute on
Google to figure out those fine origins. I wouldn't put that "have been
known to" on my CV if I was you.
