Question for German donaldists. It is said that Donald's nephew's singing cat on WDC 152-01 sings Wagner . Never seen that. What is on the German speech bubble of the cat? What is the cat singing in German (Erika Fuchs translation)?

It's been some time since I've received anything from this list, and am
wondering if it is still active at all.
Does anyone have any information on what is happening with North American
Disney comics from Boom? They have stopped publishing new issues, although
their license apparently runs for another year. They don't answer emails
sent to them.
Is David Gerstein still on this list? He did some work for Boom. David, can
you give us some insight?

About the only thing I can say is that comics are too expensive
for what I get out of it now days. I have pretty much switched
to paperback novels for my reading entertainment.
I really miss the .99 penny pincher comics in cheap paper they
did several years ago. Naturally it did not last long. If 10-20 dollars
would just go farther in my local comic store I would show up
every month.
So I did not buy any Boom comics when they were out even though
reading Duck comics is something I really enjoy.
I know I did not answer any of your questions but I am still active
on this list and enjoy reading people's emails.

Well, Marvel published an Incredibles magazine with new material this
past Wednesday so I'm going to guess that Marvel is going to pick up
publishing at least the Pixar stuff for the near future.
Would be nice to know if Disney is going to have Marvel do the classic
comics though.

Norwegian Don Rosa Book.
In this case it has not been published ANYWHERE!
Until this year it was thought to be lost.
Only recently did Don, himself, rediscover it.

Years ago, I bought many of the Disney titles (usually searching for Don
Rosa stories) and a variety of Superman and Spider-man comics (and a few
others). Then the cost went too high, and several of my favourite
artists stopped drawing those titles. Long after I stopped Super-hero
comics though, I would buy any Rosa story that came out.
Now, I only buy the Don Rosa reprints (I have the hardcover and
softcover versions of the Life of Scrooge) and I'm looking forward to
the Donald Duck collections.
My eldest son, who is an even greater comic collector, has been
purchasing everything of late as trade paperbacks (lots of Super-heroes,
mostly, new and old). That way he can get a complete story all at once,
in high-quality reprint form, and they look much nicer on your shelf.
He's also a fan of Barks and Rosa and Gottfredson, like me, and has
little use for most of the other Disney stuff.

Greetings to everyone!
I was also wondering what had happened to our forum, but knew that the
reason for the silence was the silence from BOOM Comics and/or Marvel and
- ultimately - Disney with one of their best-loved, if not popular,
fantasy worlds (i.e. The Duckburg Universe) now dormant in America.
Perhaps if Don Rosa were still physically capable of producing stories,
things would not have gone downhill, but he himself predicted the decline
of comic books some years ago.
Certainly the anti-business attitude of the present government in
Washington D.C. does not encourage people to take a risk in rebooting the
franchise: perhaps even Scrooge McDuck himself would be loathe to invest
in a comic-book venture in the present climate of hostility.? [IMAGE]
We have read many ideas here about "e-comic books" on-line, and how that
would be more economical, but you still need to pay someone to draw and
create the stories, program a website, buy advertising, pay Disney (aka
The Big Mouse) a licensing fee up front, etc.? Cheaper than paper
publishing, yes, but you would still need thousands of dollars to start
such a company.
And yet..perhaps someone will still try that technique, despite
everything!? Or will again attempt a regular format on paper!? From my
school experiences right now (I teach Latin to 6th-8th Graders) I know
that a new generation of children would still enjoy The Duckburg Universe
through well-done stories, despite competition for their attention from
violent videogames and a thousand other distractions.? I know that their
parents - who grew up with Duck Tales on TV and Don Rosa comics (and
others e.g. Van Horn)? in the 1980's and 1990's - would appreciate such a
positive influence!
And yes, Best Wishes especially to Don Rosa, and all others who have kept
the dreamland of Carl Barks alive for so many years!

perhaps? There *are* a hundred Duck related groups on
Facebook, but most of them are merely floating bodies
in zero-valued cyber space with nothing to say, and the
few of these with something resembling intelligent life
on board are too unstructured and meaningless. The easy
way out is therefore perhaps simply to say "leave it be,
let's continue with the DCML", but as we know even the
DCML does not always generate the interest and discussion
level that all our worthy themes deserves.

I don't like Facebook and such things; I've never found them organized,
clear, and thus appealing.
Message boards make visually pleasant, clearly organized themes and
discussions more easily possible, and don't require "friending" everyone (or

Has anyone seen the new app available for iPad (and presumably for iPhone)
with Disney comics?
yes, it has "Cars", "Toy story", etc, stuff, but also good ol? Donald
Duck, Scrooge, Beagle Boys, etc... i do think that the comics being sold
for 3 and 4 euros won?t have a lot of sucess, but there are several
stories for 0.79? and even some freebies...
The app is not that good, IMHO, and i get the feeling there must have been
some internal Disney struggle about releasing this or not. my guess is,
they took a reader already on the market (looks very similar to the one
IZNEO is using), put some comics on the store and are checking to see the
feedback. if there is a proper feedback, my guess is that the powers that
be at Disney will not overlook a potential money maker. they have thousands
upon thousands of stories which they own the copyright (decades of
publishing!) and could very well make millions on this...
