I am looking for the last panel of the Italian version of 'Paperino e
la "Vanessa" esplosiva' (I TL 624-A). (Most recent Italian reprint was
in 'Le grandi storie Disney - L'opera omnia di Romano Scarpa 17',
which was published last year.)
I am mainly interested in what is the original Italian text on the
sign pointing back to Duckburg, but a scan of the panel would be nice.

Believe it or not, in both of the Greek editions of the story, the
2000 kilometers of the Italian original were translated as a mere 2
kilometers, making the Greek translation rather surrealistic.

Hi!
Right before Christmas, Egmont informed us about format and scheduling changes for Donald Duck & Co in Norway.
Sadly, sales numbers of Donald Duck & Co dictates Egmont will no longer publish it weekly, and changes it into a bi-weekly comic book, unless you?re a subscriber (as we still gets them weekly). I think about 70% goes to subscribers. I can get that part, but find it very sad, after all I grew up with the weekly purchase of ?Donald? in the local grocery store.
I?d like to hear if this is also the situation from other countries. I?d say I hope not!
Egmont also presented for us a format change, increasing the height of Donald Duck & Co with 10 mm. Can anyone tell me the background for this format change, as well as if this also occur for other countries? InDucks still lists the Donald Duck & Co as a B5-format in 2015.
I taught myself the art of reading reading Disney comic books, and have no intention stop reading them now, even in my mid-forties.

If I understood correctly, non-subscribers will only get to read every second
issue. Very strange!
Last summer, the publisher of Greek Disney comics changed, reducing the number
of published titles, and increasing the size of the remaining titles, both in
number of pages and in page size. This increase was not done proportionately,
with the most extreme case being that of "Mickey Mouse", which became 2 cm
taller, resulting in narrow horizontal margins and perhaps (I'm not quite
sure) some slight vertical stretching of the content. It doesn't really affect
reading the issues, but I have no idea why they did that. Perhaps they wanted
to make a statement that they have nothing to do with the previous publisher.
All I know is that none of the new issues fits next to the issues printed by
the previous publisher!

I love Disney, but can I say, I am so disappointed in them right now.
There are no Disney Comics in The U.S. And Disney even owns Marvel now. I

Yes, you?re right: Egmont Kids Nordic now submit Donald Duck & Co weekly to all subscribers, but to newsstands only bi-weekly. This change is, they says, a bonus to honor the subscribers constituting 7 out of 10 sold issues of the comic book. I clearly see distribution expences, and the fact that subscribers already have paid the price, and those copies are sold copies.
The numbering system has been changed, too. Instead of ?Number? they?re now using ?Week? followed by the week number. Each newsstand issue is on display for the next two weeks. In the USA, Christmas editions will typically enter newsstands in October, allowing an even longer sales period.
Consequences are, however, continuous stories, like Murry?s three part Mickey And Goofy stories, are canceled. I still find it possible to run such stories for the subscribers. Comics and Stories in the USA, issued only monthly, ran those stories, so I?ll ask Egmont to consider that, among a handful other suggestions.
Don?t ask me why they run a full-scale barcode in the lower left end of the covers of the subscribers?only issues? That seems very weird to me! If I?m not wrong Egmont Ehapa in Germany have put the barcodes on the back cover.

Not even the Yugoslavian editions had such errors, despite printing quality was worse than the analog tv signals we grew up watching in the 70?s and 80?s! They haven?t stretched the contents in Norway. The only thing that has happened is that there?s more white space either on top or bottom of the pages. And the advertisements might sell for a bit more.

As I said, I'm not sure that they are stretching the contents. I don't have
the original Italian comics, and the new publisher avoids reprints, so I can't
compare with a previous publication.
A quick comparison between two scans in I.N.D.U.C.K.S. shows that they are
probably not stretching the images, as I thought, and that it is merely the
horizontal margins that are almost eliminated. Check, e.g., the first page

Despite the usual nagging, the new publisher is doing mostly a great job,
improving on the foundation built by the previous publisher: new stories,
instead of reprints, with more pages per comic book than before, at a lower
cost per page (though higher cost per comic book). They even practically gave
away the first 14 volumes of their edition of the Carl Barks Library, so that
people would not hesitate buying the next volumes, when they appear, because
they won't match the previous publisher's more expensive version, which had
stopped at volume 14. (ISBNs have already been assigned to the remaining
volumes, so we have high hopes of seeing the series continued some time this
year.)

Donald Duck & Co sells for 41,90 NOK per copy, but as a subscriber I pay a bit less. Converted to USD at a 8NOK/1 exchange rate, it?s 5,30 USD.
To that, I?ll say Egmont?s printing on good quality paper. They?ve had periods some 15 years ago when they after my opinion used lower quality, but now, it?s supreme! And it should be, as I?m collecting?
I first met the US Disney comic books on newsstands in Norway around 1980, and they sold for less than ours, but on far lower quality papers. Gladstone continued on that path, but then I started to subscribe to WDC&S, DD, MM, DDA, US, etc. I finally got married and was banned from that hobby of mine?
Norway?s economical status is probably far better off than yours. I have no remarks to the newsstand price of Donald Duck & Co, but I clearly see your point on the price tag, weeky allowances and other temptations on a digital platform, i.e. From growing up, I also remember my use of ?Donald? was reading, and as a parent it?s read and collect. In that setting, the current price policy might be damaging the return of lineups in front of the news shelves on publishing days!

Donald Duck & Co sells for 41,90 NOK per copy, but as a subscriber I pay a bit less. Converted to USD at a 8NOK/1 exchange rate, it?s 5,30 USD.
To that, I?ll say Egmont?s printing on good quality paper. They?ve had periods some 15 years ago when they after my opinion used lower quality, but now, it?s supreme! And it should be, as I?m collecting?
I first met the US Disney comic books on newsstands in Norway around 1980, and they sold for less than ours, but on far lower quality papers. Gladstone continued on that path, but then I started to subscribe to WDC&S, DD, MM, DDA, US, etc. I finally got married and was banned from that hobby of mine?

Actually, it's an old story, drawn by Romano Scarpa in 1966. All the stories
in US #1 are Italian, so there is no input from Marvel.
I should think that the selection of stories is pretty decent: a classic story
from the sixties, a more modern one from 2007, drawn by the same artist, and a
modern, funny one-pager.

Uncle Scrooge #1 came out April 22 and Donald and Mickey will be out after that.
As a long time Disney comic reader and Dealer, I must say I was disappointed with the Scrooge,
I guess I have been spoiled growing up with Barks and Then Rosa, but even the other stories in the golden and silver age were better than this most recent Scrooge.
