Greetings. I have forgotten the name of a fairly obscure character (see attachment).
I may be incorrect, but I seem to remember this character was a pal of Donald Duck. I believe he was Donald?s sailing companion in old comic strips from the 1940s or 50s. He was featured in strips shortly after the Donald and Donna Duck serial comic strips. He looks like an anthropomorphic dog with short ears like Goofy?s or Pluto?s, has a scruffy white beard. Smokes a pipe. Wears a black beret, pants, shirt and coat, but no gloves or shoes Your help identifying this character would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rich Bellacera

Well, The Donald and Donna installments (not exactly strips) were published in
Mickey Mouse Weekly 67-81. Looking at the contents of the next issue, we see
the beginning of a new story, called "A Very Fishy Business"
(https://inducks.org/story.php?c=U+MMW++82) where a character called Mac
(https://inducks.org/character.php?c=Mac+the+sailor), similar to the one you
describe, appears. So my guess is that this is Mac.

Yes, this is Mac the sailor from old British stories (and one more recent Egmont story, where a writer friend of mine used him):

Funny but sad story. ?I had purchased these old "Donald and Donna" UK strips quite a few years back and read many of them before some misfortune occurred and I lost nearly my entire Disney collection. I salvaged what I could. But I did lose the Donald and Donna stuff. Fortunately, beforehand, I had mocked up an image of Mac which I placed on a spreadsheet of assorted Disney comics & animation characters, but the characters were not labelled. ?I remember most of them, but I could not remember Mac's name.?
