I do have an archive of IRC messages from the early 2000s years.
But they are mostly casual discussions that are
not as interesting as DCML messages and probably not worth sharing
(and probably are to be considered private).
I noticed that the DCML archives miss emails from the end of the 1990s.
They are some of the most interesting messages,
which some of us have indeed!

Not completely unexpected, but still a bit surprising.
This mailing list has meant a lot to me ever since I read your message
(probably back in late 1996) about Don Rosa, who was almost unknown to me
at the time. I couldn?t believe a Disney author was available to chat with
readers from all over the world. I was instantly fascinated, discovering
that so many adults (I was ?just? 27) still read Disney comics, collected
them, and discussed stories, authors, and issues.
I started exchanging comics with people from France, the Netherlands,
Brazil, the USA, Indonesia, and more, mostly thanks to the Italian edition
of Life of Scrooge (https://www.inducks.org/issue.php?c=it%2FTD++++9). I
still remember the look on the newsagent?s face when I bought all 15 copies
he had!
Through writing messages and sending/receiving comics, I made some great
friendships. I've met many amazing people from the list. It would be rude
to name just a few, so I won?t, except for Luca Boschi and Francesco
Gerbaldo?Luca being the greatest Disney comics popularizer and Francesco
the most genuine enthusiast. Sadly, neither of them are with us anymore,
which is very, very sad.
Since those early years, a lot has happened. I contributed to the Inducks
project (then DcD), experimented with some websites, and eventually created
the Papersera website almost 21 years ago, which is now the main reference
for Disney enthusiasts in Italy. I also had the honor of being interviewed
in the French Picsou Magazine a few months ago.
So, once again, thank you, Per. Your work changed my life in many ways. If
you?re ever in Rome, let?s grab some good Carbonara!
Coincidentally, on August 3rd, the planned ?last day? of this mailing list,
I'll be meeting up with some Italian friends from this list for a lunch to
talk about comics. We'll be toasting to all of you who made this list such
a great place! We'll try to send photos attached to a message to the list,
if it will still be working!

list through these decades and making it part of my life - at least back
in the years of more activity...
Being a somewhat early adaptor of the internet back in 1994, it was
great to find likeminded people and learn a lot.
Just two highlights how you, by this list, brought people together:
I hosted Rob Klein during his travelling to Germany, and he thanked with
some drawings. While I am not tattooed at all, with these personal
drawings as potential templates I was closest to getting inked with
disney characters during these days.
Even more important for me: It was through this list that another
Australian comic fan looked for someone in Germany to send him Rosa
comics while such were not published in the US anymore.
I volunteered to help out, and this lead to that fan inviting me to stay
at his place while I was able to do an internship in Sydney 2005 (and
again 10 years later). While I am writing these words, it is just a few
weeks that I was able to be that fan's tourguide during his visit to
Hamburg - fond memories.
So, again, thank you.
