Definitely enjoying this title more than the others at the moment.
Man do I miss Gemstone's translation/re-scripting wizards. ;)

Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse have been my personal favorites of the new books so far and I think have had the strongest stories. Doubleduck has caught my interest and the second part of Wizards of Mickey has slowly begun picking up steam. Ultraheroes... I'd like to see where a lot of the characters came from I think. Not that its bad, I just don't think I've gotten into its groove yet, but I'm willing to give it some time to see if it grows on me. Really looking forward to more of the traditional stuff coming up though!
Speaking of which, the story in Scrooge is really typical of an Egmont multiparter. Especially with the lack of genuine cliffhangers barring the first book (We've had this discussion in detail on the board before). It's OK and seems to hold up on its own, but unlike Mythos, Shambor and Dragonlords, I don't think its quite as riveting or has that "hook" the others had at the starting gate. I'm curious to see what'll come after its done, so I'll hold out until the conclusion of it (which should be coming soon I think) before I figure out where I rank it among the other Egmont attempts at stories like this.
Still, it is what it is and at least its not one of the Disney era Ducktales serials. Away with those vile things! lol

OHNONONONO - It's not that I don't like Ducktales. I should clarify because I grew up on Ducktales and without it I'd never have been introduced to the ducks at all. I **LOVE** Ducktales. I just didn't like those Disney era serials specifically, very much.
Moreso I especially didn't like the one that was done by Wolfman - "Scrooge's Quest". Many of the Ducktales era comics were a bit apocryphal. That just came with the territory. But that story in particular actually "reads" like it was written by someone who was only familiar with other comic genres and not with how the ducks naturally talk and interact. There was a lot that was "off" about it and the same can be said for his Mickey serial done around the same time. In particular, the over-reliance of Webby as a useless macguffin, the non-characterization of Launchpad as "Donald-Part 2" - a common complaint with many DT stories until it was rectified and LP was made into a legitimate duck cast member with his own faults and foibles years later, and the (I'm so sorry for this) *EXTREMELY* stupid resolution with Glomgold. There were just way too many cons in that story that overshadowed the pros.
I think the Gold Odyssey fared MUCH better. Bob Langhans seemingly got the feel for the characters and made it all work. The dialogue and situations felt a lot more natural. Still - it still wasn't the greatest Duck story told by far, but it was far better than what preceded it. I only wish that it had gotten a bigger run than what it got when Gemstone reprinted it in trade at the end of their life. I can't imagine many people bought it or even knew that it had been done outside of the hardcore disney fan.

No offence to anyone here, I just was wondering if there's also a Dutch Donald Duck forum around at the internet, I couldn't find it, came to find this really lovely site, but I was wondering, if there's a Dutch forum for Donald Duck fans as well...
