I learned some new things about the new Disney DigiComics today.

Some highlights:

* DigiComics to be launched in December in Italy and English speaking parts of the world on iPhone, iPod and PSP
* Germany, Nordics and Netherlands follow in early 2010 and more countries after that
* Starts out with 50 Italian stories (including Wizards of Mickey and X-Mickey) and 5 to 10 newly digitized stories to be added every week after that!
* Chance that unique stories will be created specifically for the DigiComics platform (presumably if launch is a success)

This is really exciting news, and long overdue in my opinion!
The only concern I have is that your article says they'll be in an "animated format." What does that mean?

"animated" is maybe too strong a word. I think that just the panels scroll by.

Oh! I thought they maybe planned on adding some cheesy background music and were going to add simple Flash animations to the characters and such. *whew!*

I don't think so from what I've seen so far. Although have you seen this demo: http://www.wired.it/promo/disney ? There's a little twinkle in Scrooge's eye somewhere ...
