The two "The Life & Times Of Scrooge" hardcovers are great news!!
Let's hope for a complete Carl Barks collection...

This is good news for fans, I think. It looks like BOOM are covering all the bases here. And it also means that WDC probably won't see reprints of the same stories for the millionth time... they'll be archived in collected editions, where they belong (and it sounds like they'll be getting red carpet treatment, to boot!)

I think digest sized Rosa would be downright unreadable... too many panels, too many tiny details. The price point for these collections is around $25, correct? I'm guessing they'll be full-sized, in the vein of Marvel Masterpieces. However, the 3-tier Italian stories they're serializing in WDC would be a perfect fit for 6x9, so I can see the logic here...

In fact, in spite of this thread's headline they haven't even announced the publications themselves.
As usual, Amazon (and eager fans) jump the gun. 'In the past, [many] Gemstone titles listed on Amazon were later changed or never came out!'

The hardcovers have to be full sized. Otherwise only few people will pay $25 for it.

I can actually picture Boom doing 3 panel trades in a short-book format like Marvel does some of their stuff. It'd be cheaper and allow Disney material to get into more stores. Then printing 4 panel stuff (Rosa, Barks, etc that is more detailed or intricate in story) in a larger more normal TPB format. That's really not a bad idea at all.
Anything to get the material more available and more people buying it.

They haven't come out and made a big deal about the mgetting te license - that'll probably be at SDCC - but Ross Richie (Boom's CEO) has already stated as much on their website's forum that they have it and are keeping their publishing plans tightly under wraps.

We'll probably know more about the details later, but the amazon leakings should give some tiny general idea. Seriously. What more confirmation do you need that they're going to be producing material than that?
