Dear all,
I'm reading new German Disney comics as well and see the difference between the German publisher Ehapa and the US Gemstone. The German Disney comic magazines e.g. "Micky Maus" or "Donald Duck Sonderheft" are always delivered on time - every week and month.
The Gemstone magazines like "Uncle Scrooge" or special edition like the "Barks Rose Collection" are often late. And we are talking about months not days!
How does it come? Do they have less people working on a magazine? Is it more complicated making a magazine in the US? Do they need any help?

Yes, they have less people working for their company, and less money to operate. Ehapa is a giant publisher in Germany and a big customer for printers. They are probably given priority over small clients. Gemstone's Disney comics make very small print runs. They are likely to be a relatively low priority client. Having a small staff makes it tougher to overcome publishing problems. If Ehapa has emergencies, they can probably redirect a lot of people from other projects to help the troubled department. They can have a lot of people work overtime. They might also have the money to pay for extra services of outside people to help them. Gemstone Disney Comics has a small staff and a small budget. It takes longer for them to adjust to problems with production.
