Barks Rosa Collection Vol. 3 status?

Any word on the status of BARKS ROSA COLL TP VOL 03 GOLDEN HELMET CHARTS COLUMBUS? I had it pre-ordered with my mail order comics retailer but recently received notice that it has been canceled and got a credit for it. I presume that this is simply a "canceled to be resolicited at a later date" situation, right?

Well Young Trek I think it is possible that it might be sold at a later date. I already have both stories so it makes no difference to me.

Thanks, Roger. I was kind of hoping, though, that David Gerstein or one of the other folks at Gemstone who frequent this board might chime in on this thread with an update, perhaps.

Don't know why David never got around to chiming in on this one (perhaps he simply didn't notice this thread or perhaps *I* missed it being brought up in a different thread; I haven't had the time to keep up with the board as much as of late) but I just thought I'd point out that the third Barks/Rosa book ("The Golden Helmet"/"The Lost Charts of Columbus") has indeed been resolicited on the current (June) Diamond order form.

Amazon lists it available for shipping in 3-6 weeks: http://www.amazon.com/Donald-Duck-Adventures-Barks-Collection/dp/1603600418/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214232768&sr=8-1
But I already have these stories on hand (DDA #33 and #43).

I've been hoping for a reprint of the Golden Helmet for a while. It's one of the comics I had as a kid that I have fond memories of. I had the "Dynabrite comic" version of it. I've long regretted a purging of comics I did when I was about 15. Got rid of a load of Disney stuff back then that I would love to be sharing with my kids today.

Ah, yes, impetuous youth... I was in my late teens when I practically gave away my Best of the West figures collection from the early 70s... with the boxes! <Sigh...> http://www.geocities.com/toycollectibles/johnnywest/misc/jwagraphic.jpg

Right the first time. Wak!
We had trouble getting some of the supporting material together for BARKS/ROSA 3, so bumped it ahead a couple of months. It's hot on track now, though. You'll notice we resolicited it in Previews; it will most likely appear in early September?just a few weeks before BARKS/ROSA 4 ("The Mysterious Stone Ray"/"Cash Flow").
I can't type "Barks/Rosa" without thinking of Rosa Parks, our famous civil rights crusader. Some great achievements have nothing to do with ducks.

Maybe I should get the fourth volume. I don't have either of those stories.

Hey David (great name, by the way) ;)
Am wondering if you guys have planned out how many of these you are going to do or if you are keeping it pretty much open ended right now. Reason I ask is that once the hardcover Barks and Rosa collections start to come out, it might take a while but eventually we will start to see these stories reprinted again in those series and I was wondering how knowing this might end up impacting upon the sales of the Barks/Rosa one-shots.
Then, again, perhaps there won't be very much of an impact since the Barks and Rosa hardcover collections are going to be high priced items and the Barks/Rosa one-shots may continue to appeal to the fans who won't or can't pony up the dough for the hardcovers (the Barks/Rosa one-shots being the lower cost alternative).
Still, that said, I'd imagine that it would be smart to do mainly *later* Barks and/or Rosa stories in the one-shots since the Barks and Rosa hardcover collections are going to be covering the same overall blocks of material on an as originally published basis. If, for instance, once I start to get the hardcovers, if I then realize that the next Barks/Rosa one-shot book about to come out is going to reprint material I've already got in the hardcovers, I'll probably have to pass on the one-shot. On the other hand, I'll probably still end up getting an upcoming hardcover even if it duplicates a few stories I've already got in other Gemstone books. (I hope what I just said made sense.) :)

Glad to hear it's still coming. "Charts" is in need of a format upgrade from the original printing for sure.
Will it have improved lettering, like the recent reprint of "Treasury of Croesus"?
