Hi folks,
I spent my holiday in Spain these days and as a Duck junkie of course I tried to find something to read down in Andalusia.
But either my efforts to find a Spanish Donald Duck publication were insufficient or there is actually no current series issued at the moment like say "Micky Maus" in Germany or "Donald Duck" and "Uncle Scrooge" in the US.
At home I tried to find something at ebay but didn't find anything either. What's it about? Aren't the Ducks popular in Spain?
So if there is a Spanish Duckfan around please let me know if and where I can find some Spanish comics. At least there are listed some in the inducks (El Pato Donald, Don Miki, Colección Dumbo (which looks very promising), ...).
More than this, at the moment, too late for me, El Mundo seems to be publishing some Disney adaptions of classical literature works. Does anybody know more about this one?
Thanks in advance,
Gregor

Hi, adamriese
Unfortunately, what you say is the truth. There is not a regular disney publication in Spain these days. It´s sad.
There used to be many of them when I was a kid. When I was four or seven years old I used to buy DUMBO which contained some of the best Barks' stories and some other American authors. I loved those books and used to read them many times. There was another publication called "Pato Donald" which contained short stories (10 pagers or less) that were delightful too. I keep most of this books today.
Later, when I was more or less 11 and DUMBO and "Pato Donald" didn´t exist any more, a new publication called Don Miki appeared. It consisted of stories by Italian authors. It was OK, but not as good as the former ones.
Don Miki lasted three or four years, and after that, althought there has been some serious tries of bringing Disney comics back to the market, none of these tries has lasted more than a few moths.
In 1993 I discovered Gladstone comics, and since that moment I get my books in English.
But a few weeks ago, one of the main newspapers in Spain ("El Mundo"), for an extra 2?, give you a decent sized disney comic. They are made of Italian stories about classical pieces of literature and they are quite nice. Unfortunately, this will last only during this summer.

But if you want current or recent Disney Comics in Spanish, then could you buy second hand issues of Mexican or Argentinian or Colombian Disney Comics? Or would they be too expensive with shipping costs and exchanging currencies, or too hard to find people to find them for you?

Well, that's true, of course. But I´m really happy with my comics in English. I can read English fluently, so it's not a problem.
I have two children who are learning English. These comics are an atractive way of making them interested in the language.
But I also have a good collection of comics in Spanish from my childhood days, which include many of Barks' most representative hits so my children can enjoy them without the effort of reading in a foreign language.
But nevertheless, I would like to see some Disney comics in my country comic shops just for the pleasure of it. Of course I'd buy them if they were published, but... well, it seems they don't sell as many of them as they do with manga, DC, Marvel...
But honestly... I´ve read different kinds of comics and disney comics are still my favourites.

I don't blame you Triple J. I like Disney Comics just as much as you do. In fact I'm one of the biggest fans of Disney Comics.

Hello, I´m a spanih Duckfan from Madrid. There is a new Disney comic in comicshops from some months ago. It´s a new "Don Miki" published by Planeta DeAgostini. Unfortunately, it´s a bimonthly magazine and a little expensive, but there are some good italian stories in it:

You can see also a special issue recently published: Indiana Goofs.

And there is also the weekly "Wizards of Mickey" (it´s a limited series):

Thanks, Perico. I went to "Elektra" comic shop and found Indiana Goofs and Don Miki. Let's hope the comics are back to stay for a long time.
