Topic: Atlanta Area Fans -- Where can I buy comics?

(12 messages)

Hey all,
I'm new to the forum. I'm also new to Atlanta, Georgia and don't know where to buy comics. Everyone said a good shop here is Oxford Comics, but it didn't even look like they had new Disney comics let alone back issues. I did find a GREAT place in Anderson, SC. But does anyone know of a good comic shop in Atlanta where I can find current Disney comics and/or back issues (esp. Gladstone era!).
Thanks!
Madeye
Thanks, but for me it's the thrill of the hunt. ;) I like having a place to go and buy a comic book like I did when I first collected them as a kid.

Roger North, which part of the USA do you live? I always thought being in the USA makes it easier to buy comics, eg. free local shipping.
Madeye, I'm not sure if these are any good since I've never been to the place or even the USA! Do call them first so that you don't waste your time.

Anemo, are you located in Singapore? If so, can you obtain an extra copy of a Singapore Disney comic, for Arthur de Wolf's "Disney comics Around The World collection (website)?

Yes, Im located in Singapore. Sadly, there aren't any Singapore Disney comic around anymore. They stopped publishing before I started collecting. From what I heard, these were reprints from Egmont edition so I believe it should be similar to those in Europe, except that its translated in English language. I think there is a Disney magazine from the Princess series but I don't collect those. Let me know if you want.

I've been trying to contact a publisher in Malaysia asking them about a title called "Taman Ria Disney". So far, there's no reply.

I've contacted a publishers in Indonesia about their Disney comics. Waiting for their reply.

Thanks, Anemo. I like to get the Indian(English versions) and Singapore Egmont comics, as they are in English language, and many of my stories are not printed by the US publisher, and take a long time to be printed in Dutch Disney Comics (my two languages).

Do you know Arie Fachrisal, who lives in Jakarta? He's a Disney collector and fan, who was active on DCML years ago.

Im afraid I dont know him. Do you have his email address? I just got a reply from the publisher in Indonesia. Unfortunately, at the moment, they can distribute their comics within Indonesia only. I suspect it could be due to Disney licensing issue.

Hey Madeye. I live about two hours north of Atlanta in Cleveland, Georgia. I've been living there for nearly four years now, having moved up from Florida in 2004 to take a job up here.

I'm afraid that I can't help you comic shops wise, though, as I've been buying my comics via mail order for years now, ever since I started moving around. I used Westfield Comics for many years. I switched to Discount Comic Book Service a couple years ago and absolutely love their service (and higher discounts).
