I remembered reading this story back in its original printing and not liking it much (finding it one of the weaker Rosa stories to come down the pike). For that reason, I opted not to buy the Gemstone reprint for quite a while - not really understanding the point.
Fast forward to last week when (after collecting many back issues I've missed) I finally broke down and purchased the book. Now that we've been educated on its numerous cuts and actually have a complete version, I have to say that I like the complete version a little bit more because it just makes a lot more sense. Those Disney mandated cuts were pretty damning to the flow of the original story and really hurt it. It's not my favorite Rosa story by far, but having seen it in the way it was intended, it makes a whole lot more sense in terms of event progression now.
