Can any Duck fan identify this lengthy story? It's more than likely originally an old Italian story, but the pages below are scanned from a Greek publication from 1968. The title translates to something like: "The Odyssey of Donald" or "Donald's Odyssey" but it may have been originally titled something different in Italy. It's a disjointed take on Homer's The Iliad and The Odyssey with Donald playing the lead role as the hero in the early American West battling Indians to bring back a prize bison that belonged to Uncle Scrooge. Goofy has a cameo appearance as a medium with a crystal ball!
I was hoping someone might know the artist and the story. I could then look it up on the INDUCKS site. I got nothing when I looked up the title containing ODYSSEY. Thanks!

That's "Paperodissea" (1961) by Guido Martina and Pier Lorenzo de Vita.

It is definetely drawn by Pier Lorenzo de Vita, I recognize the artwork, but not the story.
Here's a link to the one suggested by sirredknee : http://coa.inducks.org/s.php?c=I+TL++268-AP

Thank you! I guess the translation of the title is: "Duck Odyssey." It doesn't appear to be an overly-published story by any means. I first read the story when I was 9 and I loved it then. I was hoping it would be available in English, but evidently it's not. I can read Greek however, so I'm able to still enjoy it. It's a fun story but parts of it seem disjointed. For example, most of the story takes place in the present, but it doesn't seem like it when it starts out with Donald and his men as 19th century Union cavalry soldiers fighting with Indians over a pilfered buffalo.

I have mixed feelings about the art. Overall I like the style. It has energy and really expresses movement and emotion. It's inconsistent at times though, and often the drawing seems rushed and not done very well.

It's a long story worth a read. But it appears to be available only in German, Greek and Italian.

Quote from user: Roger NorthI'd like to see them reprint that story in an American comic book. Possibly in a graphic novel or an issue of Walt Disney's Comics and Stories or Uncle Scrooge depending on how long it is.
It's a long story: 61 pages at 3 rows per page??so it would be about 46 pages if published in UNCLE SCROOGE which is 4 rows per page. Comics & Stories would probably never publish it being that it's so long. And it's highly unlikely to be printed in a graphic novel because of the relatively unknown artist/writer. it would be nice to see it in UNCLE SCROOGE, though, with some nice computer-coloring.
