Thank you.
Hjalmar Jæger just means Hjalmar the hunter. It seems (on Inducks) like Greta and Hj. speaks English with some kind of Scandinavian accent, or is it just a hillbilly dialect?

That is SUPPOSED to be (Americans' idea of) a Swedish accent. As you probably know many thousands (hundreds of thousands) of Swedes immigrated to USA and Canada in the late 1800s. Most of them went to the cold, Upper Midwest of USA, and Central Canada. Many of them became farmers, and loggers in the northern boreal forests. That was the cliché image of the big, not so bright, strong Swedish lumberjack.
As I remember, Hjalmar was a lumberjack in the US version, but he carried a gun and did a lot of hunting as a hobby. But am I remembering wrong here? Was his job supposed to be a hunter in the American version? I'm not with my US comics. I can look up the story in the Dutch version (which was first printed in the '50s, but I do't have a lot of those (and forget which issue). It was reprinted in the '70s, as I remember, but also forget which issue.

That sounds reasonable. I feel that this accent (which has disappeared in the Danish version) gives an extra dimension to the not too good story. Actually (I just saw on coa) he presents himself as Hjalmar the hunter, but surely he's a lumberjack too, as the other geese in the story are including Greta

Yes! Weren't they ALL working in the logging camp? Isn't that where they met each other? I forget the story. It was not a very memorable one. And, I really don't like Bill Wright's Ducks (although I really like his Mouse Universe figures very much). They are very much off model.

Gilles has a page where he lists all the characters he needs the original names of. I sent a few answers to Gilles several months ago, but he has yet to update that page. Once he has, perhaps I'll continue investigating.

I'm sure not too many people are interested in academic donaldism, so one must try different ways, I got some answers on S-coded stories from an Australian coa-indexer lately. And, yes Gilles has asked some of these questions on his page. Those I asked were because of my own special interest too. I've sent him information on between 100 and 200 familymembers myself since his last update.
He (Gilles) just mailed me: He's currently working on an new update, where mine and Lars' information surely will be used.

Gilles just mailed me: Busy working on an update tree he discovered an appearence of the name Humperdink as Grandmas husband (?) 1910 in W WDC 129-04. We'd like to know if the character in W VP 2-12 is called Humperdink too originally, as he is in the Danish translation.
