Matilda, you're right that the "th" in "think" is traditionally called a hard "th", and the "th" in "that" is traditionally called a soft "th". That's somehow counterintuitive to me, but it seems to be firmly established, based on the internet searches I have done.
I have always pronounced Fethry with the hard (think) "th".
Fethry's existence does not threaten the Rosa version of the Duck family tree (Rosa himself loathes the character but grudgingly places him in it as Eider's son and Whitewater's brother), so he's easy for me to personally accept as canon. Given this compatability, it's surprising some European publishers have banned stories with him. Whitewater and Fethry are very different indeed; I wonder what kind of relationship they had growing up? Were Fethry ever to appear in animation (maybe in the upcoming new DuckTales show?), what kind of voice do you imagine he'd have? I've always thought he might sound a little like certain of the late Howard Morris' characters (Wade from Garfield and Friends, Jughead from Filmation's Archie and Friends).
