Dear David. I want to congratulate you for the Gottfredson volume "Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot". It´s really fantastic - as the previous volumes. The Gottfredson Library of Fantagraphics can be regarded as one of the best projects of Comic history!

I can't wait to get that. But, I've already ordered the boxed set, so, I must wait until December for it and the other volume. I wish they'd accelerate the number of volumes per year. I'll be 80 years old when I buy the last book (IF I can live that long). Even IF I do, I won't have a lot of time to enjoy the whole set, together, reading it straight through from start to finish.

I have so far read the whole volume II and part of number I. Absolutely top class. My only complaint would be that each volume is a bit heavy reading lying on my back.
As Robb K I will wait for the boxed set of volume V and VI, especially since I need some time reading 4 other volumes before that.
The quality of the Gottfredson art is really high as early as 1932-1933.
The paintings from the 1980's I find not that good even if he tried to mimic his early style. In that respect I think some of Barks' paintings are a little bit more attractive, but far from all.

Thanks very much! My colleagues and I have been running ourselves ragged to get it just right. (I hope you enjoyed Ryan Holmberg's piece about Gottfredson and Osamu Tezuka??that's something that I'm especially glad we could include.)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, Rob, but it's exhausting just to do the two we do. The source strips need a lot of repair work, and the backup features take a lot of time to write and research. (Originally we'd planned to continue the daily books during the same year we did the two Sundays, but it proved impossible... that pretty much settled it.)

I have a table thing that you can store stuff inside (no, its not really a chest), and I keep digests, certain TPBs, and some other miscellaneous comics in there.
