Topic: The Beagle Boys Vs. The Money Bin question

I have a question pertaining to the Don Rosa story "The Beagle Boys Vs. The Money Bin".
I remember reading somewhere (I can't remember where) recently that there was a joke Don inserted into the comic which for some reason wasn't in the American version of the story in Uncle Scrooge #325, an issue which I myself own. Apparently the joke was that after the Beagle Boys break into the basement of the Money Bin, one of the Beagle Boys looks up in the ceiling and sees something nasty written about Scrooge by an employee. However in the American version the joke wasn't there for some reason. The reason was something along the lines of editing or the wall being obscured, thus the joke no longer being in the comic.
Anyone know anything about this? Anyone have any scans of any of the European versions?

Anyone?

Ah, I know this one! Here's Don Rosa, on the DCML, May 2001:
Finally, in the panel where the Beagles emerge from the well in the basement of the Bin, and they are supposed to be looking at a wall where a disgruntled workman has scrawled nasty graffiti about Mr. McDuck, this being how the Beagles know they are in the Bin. But in the Norwegian version there is no graffiti! The wall is blank! How do they know where they are?
--end quotation--
So, the graffiti was removed from the wall in European editions, and the American edition only perpetuated the omission.
Knowing this, when I went to see Rosa at the Baltimore Comic-Con some years back, I brought an enlarged photocopy of that panel and asked Rosa to write in his graffiti and sign the panel--which he did. The graffiti says "Mr. McDuck is a f--" and the final word runs off the edge of the panel. It's on the right side of the panel, the part of the wall on which one of the Beagles is shining his flashlight.
It seems unlikely to me that the editorial decision was anti-nasty words, because they would have had to translate the graffiti anyway, and could have written some tame complaint about McDuck. It seems more likely to me that this was just a mistake such as sometimes happens with text in the pictures (as opposed to the balloons or narrative boxes). Perhaps they took it out because it had to be translated but then forgot to replace it. If we're lucky, the graffiti will magically reappear in the Fantagraphics edition. Because as Rosa points out, apart from the graffiti there's no way for the Beagles to know they're in the right place.
p.s. The story appears in (French) Picsou 496 (2013), and there's no graffiti in that printing, either. The French dialog of the Beagle shining the flashlight on the wall does not begin with the equivalent of "It is [the Bin]!", so they avoid the illogic of the scene that way. I guess you're supposed to think (from the previous panel) that the Beagles are just trusting their compass.

The grafitii in present in Polish edition :

However there is no "cut' word. In fact you can read the whole sentence : "Pan McKwacz to stary kutwa" (Mr. McDuck is an old miser!")

I'm so tempted to wonder what "f" did stand for... ;)

My guess would be fink.

No picture appears when I click the link for some reason. All I see are some words in Polish and apparently the name of the website. Is said website not working or something?

The link still doesn't work.

Once, in a Comics-Convention, I think it was in Norway, I watched Don reinsert the missing graffiti when he was asked to sign a magazine which included that story. What he drew was no only words, but also a little line man version of $crooge. Thus indicating that the missing (or removed) art includes both text and graphics.

Although I see the picture doesn't work now, oddly enough the picture worked for me last night. It was interesting to see the graffiti and where it was supposed to be. Still, any chance the picture could be uploaded again or is on another site for people who haven't seen it yet?

Also, interesting the graffiti was edited out of the American, French and other European editions, but not the Polish one. What about the other countries I wonder?

Thanks for uploading the image Mr M. :D

Censorship is a large problem that many artist faced, and it's goes from deleting a graffiti, small detail, a line ... just like Mr.M showed, to deleting some parts of the story like '' Un problème de taille '' where ''they tried to show some hygienic manners'', and they could even go and refuses to publish some stories like '' La guerre des Windigos '' and '' Au pays des indiens pygmées '' where Disney refused to publish these stories because the Native people had similar faces. Here's a link to see some of the stories and Don Rosa's comment : http://puissancepicsou.free.fr/censures.php
We could realise that in USA censorship is a common thing, when in Scandinavian countries you publishe the hell of what you want...

As I said above, my guess is that this was not a case of censorship or intentional editing, and it certainly wasn't because the wall was obscured. My guess is that the graffiti got left out of the Scandinavian/European printing by mistake (they took it out because it had to be translated, then forgot to replace it), and that this blank wall simply got reproduced when the story came from Europe to the USA, because no one alerted Gemstone to the omission.
