I noticed that there wasn't any specific topic here about the Scarpa character Brigitta MacBridge, and I think she deserves one.

So, what do you guys think of this character? The Italian stories in which she appears are published very frequently here in the Netherlands, although she's still 'banned' from the weekly magazine. These are a few of my favourite stories with Brigitta:

Personally, I love Brigitta. Of course I love a lot of Romano Scarpa's other characters too. I enjoy reading stories about her because of the way she tries to win over Scrooge, and the funny situations she often ends up getting the two of them into. At the same time I am often sympathetic for her since Scrooge keeps rejecting her, but she still chases after him. I just wish that there were more stories with her that were translated in English, so I could read them.
I would love to know more about her family and how she first met Scrooge. I know that she is supposed to have a niece named Lorretta, who appears in one story, but I haven't had the chance to read that story.

I think Brigitta is somewhat interesting. I just wish she would get the hint that Scrooge is not in love with her.

Yes, her niece Loretta (http://coa.inducks.org/character.php?c=Loretta) appeared in one story. I think it's notable that this story didn't appear in Holland, but there's still a chance it will someday.
The only other relative of Brigitta I could find in my collection was her old uncle, who has a major role in http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+2712-2 (one of the stories I mentoined in my first post). In Dutch he's called Bink Goudgerand ('goudgerand' is Dutch for gilt-edged).
In this story, Scrooge wants to take over the company of the rich Bink Goudgerand. Eventually, it turns out that he's Brigitta's uncle. Bink Goudgerand is very attached to his family bonds and only wants to sell Scrooge his company if he marries Brigitta...

Interesting. The only relative of hers I had heard of was Loretta. It's nice to know that at least some of her family members have made appearances.
This story about her uncle goes with a theory that I have about Brigitta - that her family has been pushing/encouraging her to marry a wealthy man.

Brigitta CAN be used well, but Scarpa's initial conception of the character was, uh, problematic to say the least. I said my piece about her here.

I'm not really a fan of the constant romantic pursuit of Scrooge, because it makes them both come off as... uh... let's just say it stretches credibility a bit sometimes. What I do like about her is her business attitude. If she's really set on something, she can get it done and she's a reasonably successful businesswoman from time whilst staying sympathetic. This shows especially well when she partners up with Jubal Pomp.
It's just that her motives are almost always linked to Scrooge, which just gets creepy and obsessive. Haven't they heard of restraining orders?
There's one story, though, that makes use of her relationship with Scrooge and makes it work for once. I recommend you all read Uncle Scrooge and Formula of Fortune (not published in English, of course).

I agree with Down Under. As a character, she is too limited by the narrow mania of wanting to marry Scrooge. Other authors have widened her a bit, giving her business ability. ut, still, it might be difficult, and boring, having a bunch of stories with her chasing Scrooge around.

While I can't think of any titles at the moment, I've seen plenty of Brigitta stories where there was little (or zero) refrences to her "Scrooge fication" and she worked well as the main character.
While I never cared much for Jubal Pomp I think she has very good dynamic with Daisy, where she serves as the "wacky one"of the duo.
Some time ago at Inducks I've seen Silvia Ziche did some stories that center on Daisy, Brigitta, Grandma Duck and Miss Quackfaster as a team (have them trap on desert island - http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+2697-3P - or travel to New York - http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+2958-1P ) and I think it's interesting to have stories about all our main female Duck characters hang out together. I hope to read them one day...

I think Brigitta did stop being a stalker long ago. Sure, she's still strongly infatuated with Scrooge and WILL try to win him over... but Scrooge doesn't define her life.

I think the idea is that, despite his protesting to the contrary, Scrooge gets as much out of the relationship they have as Brigitta does, and he generally seems to miss her when she does stop pestering him.
Of course, that's true for the Beagle Boys, too...
