A question arises, how could the INDUCKS community agree on that? I mean, I've sent various story descriptions lately... But they do not appear. They only appear months and months after the long and (IMO) unnecessary moderator checking routine. I mean, was this really needed? Were there too many people sending "nonsense" or unrelevant descriptions? And, as if it was not enough, the descriptions I've sent (and written) now appear as "submitted by Sting". Huh? Sting? I haven't noticed my name was Sting now...
As it is, I think that INDUCKS is dead for me, I will only continue using it as a database, I have no will to send any information or indexes to them. I don't like dictatorship.
I am sorry for the bitterness of my post.
Any thoughts on that?

I find moderation of story descriptions etc quite necessary and since InDucks is run on a voluntary basis, we can't really complain too much about it taking time. InDucks is used by Disney comic publishers all over the world and the data entered thus has to be correct. I also wish that all submitted data would be handled within 24h, but for that to happen I assume that additional devoted moderators would have to join the project.

To write a description you have to be registered on the website to begin with. So there's a large chance that if you subject yourself to this process, you are a Disney fan to begin with. Otherwise I don't see any reason for anyone to register on a website with subject matter as obscure as Disney comics (debatable of course). As a long-standing member of INDUCKS, I am responsible enough to moderate myself. I don't need that "police". Isn't it true for most? Oh, well.
Second, I haven't seen any bad descriptions before, and I've read many. There were some very short ones. But all relevant.
Thanks for your opinion. But I guess we won't agree on that, germund.

Hi,
I confirm this is certainly not dictatorship on our side, but limited amount of time to make everything work as well as possible.
There are two different problems here I think.
First, the description were attributed to the moderator by mistake. I've corrected this bug now. From now on when someone submits a description which is later approved, the true original writer is acknowledged. I also added the name of the author description on the story page:
Story page
In fact I also created a page for each contributor. It gives a summary of his/her contributions:
spacewalker
This "user page" is even linked from the story page where your contributions are (maybe that's too much, I'm not sure what's best here).
Finally I also manually changed the credit for the descriptions that you sent and that were approved.
The second problem is the time taken for approval of one's descriptions. We have switched from a post-moderation system to an approval-first system. This is because we like all contributions to the index to be approved by trusted persons. This is good for first-time users who may send wrong (or not well written) descriptions, but not for long-time contributors who submit well-written descriptions. To have the both of worlds, we can "whitelist" users we know who always submit good descriptions. This way you can contribute as before. I'd need to talk about this with other indexers.

To give you a reply on this, I've seen many wrong ones, but we delete them. Some are I think written by kids (of course some kids will also submit good descriptions) or by persons who don't take enough time to polish their descriptions.
Some descriptions are off-topic as well, like "this is Rosa's first story with Magica".

Cacou, thanks a lot for your explanation. It sure sheds some light on the problem and it all seems quite different now. I also found the new features very nice.
Sorry if I seemed bitter or even rude. That was in no way my intention. INDUCKS is a fantastic resource and will continue to be.
Thanks for the hard work you're doing to keep the website alive and improve it.

Hi again,
It is fine that you complain, because it tells us what should be changed. Our goal is not to discourage people who want to give a help. As long as the changes are an improvement, I'll find a way to implement them. Unfortunately, we have limited time so we can only do small changes, one at a time.

Hello. I find it important to answer since I've been mentioned here, but seems to me already all the questions been answered. My nickname was written in submitted by me descriptions because of the system, not because of some dictatorship or whatever (I do not intend to steal someones desc. and put it with my nickname). As Cacou said this "bug" is fixed now. On my point of view it is very importand to submit only accurate descriptions (sometimes I get completely wrong or misplaced), it's not just about having the descriptions for each story, but it is about the quailty. Quality is what makes INDUCKS such a perfect Disney comics source and I don't agree it is loosing its perfection. For about 10 years I'm with INDUCKS it has changed a lot, and i mean A LOT! If back in those days INDUCKS team was just indexing the stories, now there's a lot of work with checking and submitting descriptions, story scans, solving errors... If we let it do to any registered user I'm affraid INDUCKS might become a complete mess and there will be no more words about perfection in any way...

Hello, Sting.
Thanks for your explanation. Me mentioning your name was in no way an accusation. It is not that I tried to put a blame for anything on you personally, I hope it was quite clear, and if it wasn't, I would like to make it clear now.
Also thanks for the hard work you're doing for INDUCKS.
Cheers,

In a way...I wish they (INDUCKS) could show more than page 1 of the story...I'm sure there's limits, but I don't care if the story is in Italian, German, Japanese, or even Esperanto...I coulad make a story out of that!
