Does it strike anyone else as odd how little we know about Grandpa Duck's side of the family? Despite being the source of the iconic "Duck" last name, writers seem to have explored them much less than the McDucks and Coots. Barks and Rosa used only two: Grandpa himself and a distant seafaring ancestor named Pintail. Other writers have added a few more - Jack Bradbury gave us some pioneer ancestors, and Grandpa's father, who fought in the Civil War and looked almost exactly like Donald, appeared in an Italian story. Still, they seem to lack the backstory significance to the overall universe that the McDucks and Grandma's family, the Coots, do. What would you like to learn about Grandpa's family?

I would like to know from what European country they came to America, and who Grandpa's brothers and sisters were, and more about his father's life, and more about his life, and to see him with Grandma raising little Donald. Perhaps I can write and storyboard some stories in this direction. But, when I've done that type of thing in the past, I've been discouraged by my editors.
