Today I got the last edition of the Bulgarian Donald Duck magazine (96 pages) and it has this story at 15 pages. It's about the nephews trying to figure out a good surprise for Donald's birthday. Thing is, it has strange jumps, as if it was meant to be a frame story that has other stories inbetween. And when I looked at German LTB 455, I saw that is precisely how it was meant to be. Apparently, they couldn't fit the whole set of stories in the smaller amount of pages this issue has, so they took out just the frame story. Egmont Bulgaria has really botched this one. >:(

Yes, Donald's birthday. In The Netherlands, we currently have a special issue celebrating the 80th anniversary (birthday) of Donald as a Disney character.

I have seen frame stories reprinted without the stories they were meant to frame in French publications (Picsou or Super Picsou Geant). Sometimes it's worth seeing the frame story for some particular aspect of it, even if it is on the choppy side! But I agree, it seems like an odd editorial choice, when there are so many other stories from which to choose.
