I got my boys up early and we drove 3+ hrs to Kansas City to meet Don Rosa! It was an awesome day and Don was very gracious with us. He signed some comics for us including the first Uncle Scrooge comic I ever read back when I was 12 years old...US #219!!! My copy has been read quite a few times and passed around to others and he signed it with a really beautiful signature in gold ink. I couldn't be more thrilled!
Don told a few stories and did some sketches for us and I also bought a wonderful print that I'll be hanging on the wall. I may never have delved into the history of Uncle Scrooge and fallen into such a deep appreciation if it wasn't for my first experience being such an outstanding story as "Son of the Sun". I think we should all be looking for opportunities to give away the upcoming Fantagraphics Don Rosa volume, especially to children. My kids were the only ones that I noticed approach Don while we were at the convention. Thankfully, there were other adult fans around, but we need to pass this stuff down to the younger folks.
