Well, I was thinking to create this topic because I wanted to know where did you first saw all those three characters. I'm not talking about the original versions but the Disney versions of the characters. Some of the fans have seen them for the first time in Song of the South and some others have seen them in the Splash Mountain ride from Disneyland. I think there are some fans who have seen them in some Disney pictures books like the ones that are book adaptations of Song of the South (most of them are adaptations of animated scenes). I'm one of the fans who first saw them in the Disney comics. I remember when I first saw Brer Fox and Brer Bear in a Chip 'n' Dale story, I was wondering if they're from a movie or they're comic-only characters and I found them interesting. Later, I saw Brer Rabbit in the same story and I was wondering if he belongs to the same series as Brer Fox and Brer Bear because they all wear clothes. In 2007 (or 2008 I think), I have learned that they all came from Song of the South when I was looking at the articles from Disney movies on Wikipedia and decided to click on Song of the South page to learn about it. Later, I went on Song of the South.net to learn more informations about it. In 2013, I decided to read more comics with them and later I watched Song of the South (the whole movie). After watching it, I felt sad that they didn't release Song of the South on DVD (it would be great if they bring this movie back). If you want to answer this topic then please tell where did you first saw them.

I first read 2 different Bre'r Rabbit comic books in 1951, and then, in 1952, I saw the film, "Song of The South". All 3 of those characters came fro the film, so they also belong together in the Bre'r Rabbit comic books. I have written some Bre'r Rabbit stories, for Dutch Disney Comic Books (Sanoma Uitgevers), which, I hope, will be printed within the next year.
They should be drawn by one of the very best artists who currently draw those characters. I will announce it here on this forum, when those stories are accepted , drawn and scheduled for printing.

I was reading at age four. The Sunday Los Angeles Examiner included the Uncle Remus & His Tales Of Br'er Rabbit comic strip. At age five, I bought my first comic book. It was an issue of Walt Disney's Comics & Stories. I have been collecting Disney comics ever since. Many have included Br'er Rabbit stories. Then I learned about the Song Of The South movie. I saw it in 1973 when it was re-released to theatres. It appeared on a double bill with The Aristocats.. It was released on videotape in Europe and was re-released to theaters in 1986. It has not been seen since. In 2012, Jim Korkis published a book, Who's Afraid Of The Song Of The South? And Other Forbidden Disney Stories. I have the book but I do not have a copy of the movie. Disney refuses to release it on DVD. Disney says it is racist. Korkis disagrees. So do I. James Baskett won an honorary Academy Award for his portrayal of Uncle Remus in The Song Of The South and Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah won an Academy Award for Best Original Song. The movie takes place in the 1870s after the Civil War has ended and the slaves were given their freedom. The movie has an uplifting positive message. It should be released on DVD and Blu-Ray.

I saw them on the movie Song of The South. In The Comic book medium I saw them in Walt Disney's Summer Fun (Disney Series) #1.

Probably Splash Mountain. Did they have a cameo in Mickey's Christmas Carol? If so, it might have been there.
Having seen Song of the South, I was a little underwhelmed. I think the exclusivity of the film has overshadowed the film itself.
King Scrooge The First
Golden book in the 80s. I too was underwhelmed by SotS, the live-action segments dragged the whole movie down imo.

Of course, there was also the great King Features Uncle Remus newspaper strip drawn by Paul Murry and Dick Moores. My stories will be drawn in the style of the original Murry strips (and the artwork of the film). And unlike most of the Dutch productions being very short 3-5 pages, we have been given the go-ahead to make longer stories (6-8 pages) (in the Silly Symphonies size) as long as our stories are high quality, in the classical 1940s style.
