With a couple of issues of this magazine out, what does everyone think this means for the future of Disney comics in North America? They're obviously really pushing this, because it's at all the big retailers like Wal-Mart and Barnes & Noble, but is obviously aimed at a younger audience and isn't what I would consider a real comic book. I find it frustrating that Disney is publishing tons of these magazines themselves and not under the Marvel banner (Comic Zone, Disney Fairies, Phineas and Ferb, Disney Jr, Disney Princesses, Minnie & Daisy, etc.), but seem to have no interest in publishing the traditional comic book format. So - with the new Mickey cartoons and comic versions in this magazine, is there any hope of seeing the Disney standards in new printed stories again?

For anyone unfamiliar with this magazine, it looks like it is intended to be a quarterly publication by Disney Publishing Worldwide. The current issue focuses on the Mickey Mouse shorts, with four different 6-page Mickey stories, a 4-page Planes story, 18 pages of Phineas and Ferb comics, a 4-page Brave story, a Wreck It Ralph 2-pager, a couple of Monsters Inc 1-page comics, and a 4-page Fish Hooks story. There's also a bunch of puzzles, mazes, and posters. I've got two young kids and they enjoy it, but the stories are definitely a lot more shallow than what fans of Disney comics like. Its a $10 magazine, and is 96 pages with no ads.

Yeah, it's a new series that's not added to inducks yet. But they actually use the same logo as the old Comic Zone.

The MM stories are from the new animated series. I haven't read this Comic Zone magazine yet, but I read the comic adaption you can buy on comiXology. And they are just made up of random screencaps from the animation.
