Yeah Congratulations to Don Rosa. He was a good artist. He obviously deserves this award especially after his eye problem that forced him to retire.

If someone's given an award for that reason, it shouldn't have been given. It dishonors every recipient, and dilutes the idea of what respect a work deserves.

Oh, I'm sure Roger just meant that it's particularly nice for Rosa to be celebrated publicly now, given that his comic-creating days are behind him. Not that he deserves it even in part *because of* his eye problems. But his retirement does make this in his case a sort of "lifetime achievement" award.

I wonder how Don is doing since his latest episode of a couple of months ago of another detached retina. Anybody have any news?

It's nice to see Don Rosa and Steve Gerber get their due. They both had a way with ducks. Gerber's Howard the Duck often made me think of a more cynical and satirical Donald Duck style comic aimed at older readers. I wonder if Gerber was a Barks fan?

It makes me so mad to hear that they are still the best-selling comics around the world. I mean, not mad at that, cause thats good, but mad at the fact that WE DON'T GET THEM IN THE US ANYMORE.

This episode wasn't as severe as the initial one(s), and thankfully took far less time (and hassle) to heal. It wasn't a full detachment this time around.
