Topic: Carl Barks' Greatest Ducktales Volume 1

Why is this book so outrageously over-priced? Was there some kind of mis-print when this first came out? Or is it just a case of supply and demand. I did just see it on e-bay right now for only 99 cents but who knows where it'll end up. So can anyone shed some light on why it's so rare?

I don't know why it's so rare. Maybe because it's high quality. You should order it while it's cheap.

Does anyone remembers a story in which Donald is wearing a prussian-style helmet on top of which there is a small Donald head? The small head changes expression according to the situations. I only remember these images but nothing about the story... probably Carl Barks' but I'm not sure... can anyone help me? thanks!

I think you might be thinking of the story called The Golden Helmet. Although I could be wrong about that.

hehe.

I love the Golden Helmet though. Someone's going to shoot me for saying this over Lost in the Andes, but its probably my favorite Barks story, with Back to the Klondike in a close second. I've read it about a million times.

I don't have a favorite story but I think all the aforementioned stories are good. I have Lost in the Andes in Donald Duck Adventures (Gladstone Series) #3, Back to the Klondike in Uncle Scrooge Adventures #26 and Carl Barks' Greatest Duck Tales Stories #1 and The Golden Helmet in Donald Duck Adventures (Gladstone Series) #33.

Most of my DDA are from the first Gladstone series, so I have Lost in the Andes only in the Fantagraphics printing, Back to the Klondike in one of those oversized Gladstone albums, and the Golden Helmet in the Barks/Rosa collection vol 3.

Awesome but I don't know if I can afford those giant sized TPB's right now.

What the Gladstone ones? Yeah they're kind of expensive these days. A couple of years ago Amazon actually still had several at their original prices, which is when I got them. The prices even at retail are a bit high for the length but not ridiculous. However, I saw a listing on ebay earlier today that you might be interested in for a good price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walt-Disney-Gladstone-Giant-Comic-AlbumComplete-Set-of-Seven-/121151128246. I would get it myself but I already have a few of them.
