I plan a short trip to Antwerp (and Leuven), Belgium next week. Does anyone have any hint on comic shops I have to visit?
Of cause I'm particular interested in Disney comics. Any suggestions on magazines or books I should have a look at? I guess there are mostly issues from the Netherlands and France on sale.

BTW: I plan to visit the Hergé Museum in Louvain-la-Neuve :)

I just came back from my trip. Belgium is no good place to find Disney comics. Besides the Donald Duck weekly from the Netherlands no other Disney book was seen. But I found a really nice comic shop in Leuven: Gobelijn Comics, Mechelsestraat 35. They have a nice collection of books, prints and figures, but - no Disney.

Yes! They so love the Franco-Belgian style comics there, that Disney never made any inroads. They used to have their own Mickey Magazine with Disney comics in the 1950s. But those are hard to find now. There is, currently, a very small Belgian weekly comic printed by Dutch Sanoma Uitgevers. It has only one 4-page story (usually a "Duck story". In the Flemish language areas, Dutch "Donald Duck Weekblad" is sold (and the other Dutch books). In the French language "Walloon" areas, the French books are sold. But none of these new Disney books are as common (seen in so many local places) as they are in their parent countries. And the most interesting aspect is that Disney books, unlike "Gaston", Sargeant Blueberry, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tin Tin, etc., are not collected by a decent number of Belgian children (e.g. no collector's market for Disney books exists). i usually travel to Belgium (Liége, Brussels and Antwerp) a few times a year to visit relatives, and look in antiquariats and book shops for used Disney comics. i rarely find ANY. Only very little children are most of the readers, and their parents probably throw them away, as used booksellers don't want to handle them as there is no demand for used issues.
