I was going to bring up this comic one day but never got around to it. Even as I saw tis title I was going to bring it up actually.

I don't have it with me, but it seems like that particular one seems to haze the lines in which species Donald is in itself.
I remember the whole thing about fethry going after real ducks after Donald pleaded not to shoot him (kind of implies that he sort of thinks himself as a duck. I have a common word as my last name, but I wouldn't react quite the same if someone said that in the same way as Donald did. I would freak out more that someone like Fethry is pointing a gun at me), but I remember Donald getting all insulted during that thinking that Fethry is implying that he is not a duck(?). The whole fact that the mallards can talk to each other and even outsmarted Fethry brings up more questions than not; just how much are the Disney ducks like the duck type ducks? I know very well that this comic is just for fun of course, but it certainly made me have a double take for the whole thing. Regardless of the answer, it was certainly quite strange when Fethry commended that he doesn't eat duck for he doesn't like the taste of them, implying that he has eaten duck without a second thought. Uhhh...

Then again this same Fethry tried to use a cat as a dog, so he's more off the ball than usual.

Though it isn't it, I think that this comic could be the trope codifier to "Furry Confusion" http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FurryConfusion Though a lot of Disney is this. The very fact that Mickey has a pet dog and a friend dog is only the tip of the Iceburg here.

Those ducks in the hunting story don't talk, they think. Tabby (Donald's cat) also thinks. This seems to be some sort of middle ground between the 'human' ducks and domesticated, mute dogs like Pluto and Bolivar.

The point is probably, that when Donald eats turkey for Thanksgiving, something in the Duck world is very wrong.

At least no author has had him loving to eat duck! A turkey and a duck are probably farther apart, genetically, than humans to monkeys.
