PART 1
Glasgow 1877.
Scrooge McDuck is polishing Dig's boots.A few metres away,without them knowing,someone is sitting and watching.It's a witch who has come from
the distant future,Magica De Spell.A bystander sees her and is attracted.That man is none other than the father of Penny Wise,a lazy vagabond who
always tries to get rich in some easy way.His name is No.(Did you get the joke?His first name is No,his sirname is Wise,so he's No Wise)
No-Hey babe...
Magica-Not now.I'm watching my future hated enemy.
No looks at the direction Magica is looking towards.All he sees is a child polishing a man's boots.
No-Is this man an ex of yours babe?Has he hurt your feelings?I can...
Magica-No fool.I was referring to the kid.
No-Huh?I don't get it.
Magica-I'm coming from the future.That duckling is gonna become filthily rich and cause me much trouble.
No(thinking)-Man,this chick is nuts.Anyway,she's quite a babe,so...
No-Listen babe,forget about that brat.Let's go somewhere...
Magica gets angry and casts an explosive spell which transforms No into a mouse.He runs away scared.A little later,he's turned back to human.
No(thinking)-Gosh.She's a witch!But,if she's a witch,maybe she really is from the future.And maybe that kid is really going to become rich.
Glasgow 1878.
Scrooge is standing on the pavement,waiting for customers.A little cute blond girl stops next to him.
Girl-What are you doing?
Scrooge-I'm working.Not all the kids have the luxury to play around,you know.
Girl-Don't be so mean.By the way,i'm Penny.Penny Wise.
Scrooge-And i'm Scrooge.Scrooge McDuck.
A gang of boys looking a little older than Scrooge and Penny appear.
Boy-Hey,Penny.What are you doing with that shrimp?Come with us.
Penny-Maybe later.
The boy,who isn't used to being turned down,tries to drag Penny.Scrooge gets angry and kicks the butt of all of them!The boys run away beaten and
scared.
Penny-Wow,you're something.
Scrooge-Come on.I can take down twice as many bullies as them.
Penny-Anyway,stay away from them,or you might have trouble.
The two kids chat for a while,with Scrooge totally forgetting about his determination to earn money.
Penny-Ok,i have to go now.My father will be back soon and,if i haven't cooked for him,he'll get mad.

A few days later,on a street of Glasgow,we see the boys' gang that Scrooge had beaten running.They've just stole some ice creams from a store.They
are being chased by the store's owner and a policeman.They're getting desperate,since they're losing ground.Scrooge sees them from far away.
Yes,he does dislike them.And yes,he does believe in honesty.But,at that moment,the young,immature and,most importantly,still quite sensitive
Scrooge decides to help them.He waves to them to follow him.Having nothing to lose,the desperate kids do so.Scrooge leads them through an alley to
a secret passage,which he then covers with a newspaper.Then,he comes out of the alley,only to be stopped by the policeman and the storekeeper.
Policeman-Did you see any kids running?
Scrooge-Err,no sir.
Storekeeper-Wait a minute,i know this alley.It has a secret passage.
The policeman goes to investigate.He discovers the passage.Even worse for Scrooge,he finds a hat fallen from one of the kids.
Policeman-So,you helped them escape.Are you with them?
Scrooge-NO.
Policeman-Kid,you've got into serious trouble.
Scrooge would pay for the stolen ice creams,but he hasn't earned any money yet today.The policeman is ready to arrest him.Scrooge is struggling to
escape,but it's futile.
Meanwhile,on the other side of the street,Penny and her father are walking.
Penny-Dad,i want to play more in the playground.
No-There is a lot of housework to be done...
No notices Scrooge being dragged by the policeman.He remembers what Magica told him one year ago.
No(thinking)-That may be the chance of my life.If i lend some money to that brat and then let him forget about it,when he becomes rich,i can get all
his fortune...
No and Penny go there and ask what's wrong.The policeman tells them.No pays for the ice creams and the policeman lets Scrooge go.
Scrooge-I don't know how to thank you sir.
No starts writing something on a paper.
No-Sign here.It's a note of the money you owe me.
The note puts a huge interest on the debt.Not knowing much about financial terms,the kid falls for the trap and signs.At that moment,Scrooge and
Penny notice each other.
Scrooge-Hey,Penny.
Penny-Hey,Scrooge.
No-Come on Penny,no time to waste.
Penny is waving farewell to her friend,while her father is dragging her.Scrooge is waving back,wishing he could do something to help the poor girl.
Years passed and Scrooge totally forgot that story.
Glasgow 1930.
No is watching tv.Penny is cooking in the kitchen.All those years she hasn't married or done anything other than taking care of her lazy father.
No(mumbling)-So,that McDuck guy is now the richest person in the world...
Suddenly,No stands up.Did they say McDuck?He starts searching for the old,yellow note to make sure.Yes!The sign says ''McDuck''.

There is something one might wonder.How did Scrooge escape the policeman in the original(without Magica's interfrerence)timeline?
My explanation is that,in the original past,Scrooge wasn't there at all,at that moment.Magica's time travel changed the flow of events in subtle ways.
Therefore,the whole Barkses flour story takes place only in the new timeline,the one created by Magica's travel.In the original timeline,Scrooge never
got that debt.
Anyway,back with my story's next part soon.

Quackfaster-Mr McDuck,someone wants to see you,claiming you owe money to him.
Scrooge-WHAT?Me,the richest duck in the world?This is ridiculous,i don't have any debts.Tell that fraud to come in,i'll face him personally.
The two members of Wise family enter.
No-Long time no see,Scrooge.I've been waiting more than 50 years for this moment.
Scrooge-Who the hell are you?
No shows him the old,yellow piece of paper.Scrooge starts recalling.
No-Do you remember now?I'm from the ''ice cream'' case,har har.
Scrooge sweats.
No-Oh,and don't bother tearing off the note to avoid paying.I've gone to lawyers and produced many copies of it.
Scrooge looks at No's daughter.
Scrooge-Then,you must be Penny.
Penny-I am.I've missed you Scrooge.And i'm sorry we had to meet again under such circumstances.
No-Enough with the melo.Now,get the hell out of my office and go to find a job,so that you can pay the rest of the money you owe me.
Scrooge(thinking)-I'm done for.I've been trying to become the richest duck for 50 years and it was all for nothing.
Scrooge sobs.No is laughing like a maniac,when,suddenly,he drops dead!It looks like,in his old age,he couldn't endure such emotion.
Later,when the corpse has been taken,Scrooge and Penny have a private conversation.
Scrooge-Penny,the note i signed that day says ''I owe to No Wise's family'',not ''I owe to No Wise''.This means you can still use that piece of paper to
become the richest person in the world.
Penny smiles.
Penny-I was never interested in that way of life Scrooge.You can keep your fortune.
Scrooge-You mean you'll destroy the note and the copies?
Penny-Well,no.
Scrooge is baffled.
Penny-No offense to you Scrooge,but you billionaires often abuse your wealth and power.If there is one thing i hate,that is injustice.I'll keep the notes
just in case you ever try to harm people,believing you are omnipotent.
Penny starts walking away.For one last time,she turns to Scrooge and smiles.
Penny-Use your power to do good and you can be sure i'll never tell anyone about our secret.
Scrooge(thinking)-Well,i can always hire some thugs to kidnap her and force her to tell us where the notes are.Then,i can bribe any lawyer in the way
to destroy them...Nah,since i burnt that African village,i swore never to behave like that again.
Penny decided to move from the gloomy Glasgow to the sunny Duckburg.She bought a beautiful house,since Scrooge provided her with a large
amount of money to show his gratitude.
