I liked the idea of incorporating the elusive Donna as a character, I thought the idea of making Clara a relative of Panchito's was very clever (though the question of why she apparently operates under an assumed name remains mysterious), and the idea of Matilda and Ludwig in Nazi Germany certainly raises interesting possibilities of the sort that, obviously, you couldn't touch in an "official" comic. I also enjoyed small details like Donald referencing "Der Führer's Face" and the Aracuan Bird appearing in the background.

I think the problems with the plot mostly stem with it trying to cram too much material into too little space; so, for instance, in the beginning you have this idea that the US has just gotten into World War II and people are joining the army, only it feels like it's all taking place in some sort of void; there's little sense of the real stakes involved here. Likewise, when you have some dude threatening Donald as a "damned liberal," those of us not as well-versed as we might be in the geopolitics of the 1940s may be confused--and let's not forget the way you have us scrambling to wikipedia to look up "Filinto Muller." Obviously, this is difficult stuff; you don't want to get excessively bogged down in geopolitics, but at the same time, if you do want to forcefully situate the story in a specific historical context, it's necessary to find a balance which I don't think you've totally done here.

(I also think Donald's relationship with Donna isn't as well-defined as it probably ought to be, especially if she's to be a recurring character.)

But by all means, don't let me discourage you; as I said, I think there's a lot of interesting material here ripe for development.

About Donna: we don't intend to show her again. Donald will briefly meet her again only in the 50s, as Taliaferro showed us.
And oh?¦ about Clara: maybe we were not clear: she is the "girlfriend" (sort of) of Panchito, her real name is obviously Clara Cluck. Chiquita Pistoles (as Don Donald) is just an alias made to pass the frontier.
