I'm glad that he had a chance to explain himself, it is a fascinating read.

I found that quite moving. Also somewhat maddening, the extent to which he was dicked over by the system (which, to be as fair as I can possibly be, hadn't had to deal with anyone quite like him before--not that it's not exploitive anyway), but let's not dwell too much on that, especially since I'm impressed by his apparent lack of bitterness.
It's also clearer than ever what a freak set of circumstances were necessary for someone like him to have ever emerged. Disney comics as a form have historically been bizarrely fortunate in who they attract. Sure, they're long past their peak in the states and maybe even in Europe, but think how much worse shape they COULD be in.

Yes, thanks indeed for the link. It's fascinating reading, and answers a lot of questions I had (and had previously asked on other threads) about Rosa's retirement. It also confirms for me, sadly, that we will never see another Rosa Duck story.

Thanks for sharing. An interessting and sad statement by Don Rosa.
It's hard to belive that the "Disney Comic System" really works like that. I'm one of those who always thought what a creator gets his share in every sold book. That's the way I normaly works in our world. That Disney comics work differently makes me angry.

How Disney would deal with royalties for stories nobody knows who made them?
GeoX
I...don't think there are any anonymous Disney creators working these days, and I don't think anyone's suggesting royalties be offered ex post facto.
