This may come as a surprise to some international fans, but seeing Uncle Scrooge in Walt Disney World is a rare treat. He was spotted during a special "Long Lost Friends" Meet and Greet today, along with many other semi-retired characters (including Horace Horsecollar, the Three Little Pigs and Robin Hood.)

Uncle Scrooge shouldn't be a "long lost friend". Shame on Disney for not keeping him in the public eye. Carl Barks and Uncle Scrooge deserve better.

Well, they never really had him much on display in the parks since he's considered a "Christmas character" and usually only appears (or appeared?) in their Christmas parades. No reason to be sad, though, this is an extremely UGLY character design they did there. I could imagine that this thing might even frighten kids. The Scrooge head must be one of the most awful designs I have ever seen on a park character. Even the Ludwig van Drake head looks somewhat nicer.

Uncle Scrooge is one of the most underrated comic-characters, I can imagine.
In the public they just mention Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck and everybody thinks at the ol' Disney movies from the 40es. Of course, they're good, but Scrooge McDuck has too much potential to be hidden behind Mickey and Donald.
Sadly, the only time, I know Scrooge was shown in public, is in ,,Duck Tales'', where the characters act a little bit alienated. :/

Speaking of neglect, I remember our visit to Toon Town before they demolished it. Donald's boat was in sad, sad shape and while there was a small mural of Uncle Scrooge on the inside, it was all chipped and dirty. :(
I'd agree that the costume isn't one of Disney's better ones, but it's probably a holdover from the 1980s. As often as they use it, it probably doesn't warrant an update.
Now, what's really sad is that if you look at the characters on parade, they're each holding a sign with their names on it. Because they're so seldom seen that most people probably have no idea who they are.
But hey, Br'er Rabbit gets his own ride. So it's not all doom and gloom. ;)

Scrooge McDuck may be underrated in animation but he was quite popular in the comic books. In fact he used to have his own comic book up until 2 years ago.

Of course, he's well-known to comic fans, but it's a shame, that such an interresting complex character has to be hidden behind ''Silly-laughing-Mickey-Mouses'', when visitors come to Disneyland... :P
But the time of Disney characters in the medias is almost over...
Or could you imagine a cartoon with $crooge today?
People more like the ''cheap''-animation movies, that's the only medium for disney characters today :(
