Brazilian editor Abril apparently restarted their Disney comics production with two new Ze Carioca stories

One is written and drawn by Fernando Ventura, who occasionally posts on this forum. The stories are published in a special comic-book made for ZC's 70th birthday, which also contains some other rare & old Brazilian stories.

It's true! We're producing 7 to12 pages new stories to be printed, one-by-month, on our Joe Carioca comic book next year. The next one will be printed in February.

Is there an english version of the article?

Thank you cacou. I wish there was a company that published traditional Disney Comics in English so they can print the stories in that language.

That is really neat. Being brazilian myself, I've been reading some of the older brazilian comics I've been able to find (even some from the 70's!). They're nice but still nowhere near the level of quality of their american counterpart, unfortunately.
Fernando, are you interested in some freelance writing? I'd love to be able to contribute in any way to Disney comics besides just buying (which I will definitely do). :D

Hi, misterpom! I'm not an editor myself, just an author. For now we'll publish one story by month, but I hope the producktion will increase. If you want to be part of it someday, I suggest you start writing a few stories for yourself, in storyboard scheme. :)

Why did threy stop doing Jose stories in the first place?
Fernando Ventura
Economics. :(

Hi Fernando,
I can't draw a tree and a house on a white sheet to save my own life haha. I'm much better at coming up with storylines than actual good drawings. Someone would have to adapt those to the comics medium, really. Anyway, I'm glad that it's even possible. I have ideas all the time. If I come up with something interesting for Duck comics, I'll surely let you know. I have an idea for a story that I think might fit Uncle Scrooge but I'm not sure how to adapt it, because it's fundamentally a fairy tale with a moral twist ending. It's called "Of kings and earthling things".

Misterpom, I can't use other people ideas. The reason is simple: I was paid to write my own ideas and I have to sign a contract attesting I'm the only author. But you can make a deal with some new artist and write stories together. My advice for now is simple: write all your ideas on a notebook. ;)

I just hope the Brazilian stories would come to the states.
Fernando Ventura
To help this happen I'm coloring all new stories in large format. :)
