Read about the negatives been lost and the version in Fantagraphics Carl Park's library being redrawn by someone else. Can you shed some light on that? What exactly happened to that story and how was it reproduced? Is it the only story whose originals were lost or are there any more?
Thanks

The last reproduction, in "Carl Barks Samlede Værker", was a facsimile - a photographic reproduction of an old magazine.
Daan Jippes has redrawn the story for the dutch magazine in the 80's (the islanders teeth were originally sharpened)

The best existing "master" copy for reprint is a combination of some form of photocopies/photos of Barks' original pages (a large % of the stories' pages?) and Jippes' re-inked pages. Unfortunately, that wasn't ready for Fantographics' printing. But it could, conceivably be used in a second printing (if Fantographics chooses to do so).

David Gerstein elaborates on the matter here.
