Topic: Question about April, May and June

Hey!! You guys probably know that in the "Duckies" universe April, May and June have new hairstyles as well as noticable outfits with the colors yellow, purple and pink. I was just wondering which duck is which? It's easy to tell with Huey, Dewy and Louie but here not so much. So could someone please tell me? Thanks. :)

I don't know how it is at Egmont, but in America they've always been "pastel" colored versions of the boys since the late 80's/early 90's (which is around the time Huey, Dewey, and Louie got their colors from Ducktales.
I've always generally accepted that April is light pink, May is powder blue, and June is a soft green
Not sure if those color schemes apply to Egmonts Duckies universe, but outside of different costumes that's the color guide we seem to have adopted here.

June - yellow
April - green
May - red/cherry

This is how I color them for Egmont

"The Duckies" is a Dutch subuniverse. See http://coa.inducks.org/universe.php/x/universe.php?c=Duckies .

Thanks very much for your replies you guys. I guess I would like to know them by their Duckies hairstyles. (sorry if I wasn't being specific) But still thank you guys for your input on their colors. :)

A rather interesting question is why Don Rosa used to draw the three girls with compact shocks of hair while in the original picture documents of Carl Barks AMJ have no such. Isn't Rosa such a bean counter regarding all Barksisms?

Babetje has two tails, Lizzy a ponytail and Juultje a hairband. Since the usual order is 'Lizzy, Juultje & Babetje', I guess Lizzy=April, Juultje=May, and Babetje=June. I doubt if they're being very consistent with the names, though.

The colourists rarely are. But with April, May and June there are no excuses, as they have different, identifying hairstyles. So, the names should be matched to them. But, of course, those details often get overlooked.

I've had several occaisions in whiv=ch I sent colouring instructions in with my storyboards, to make sure a crucial item was coloured correctly, only to have my note ignored.

I was actually very surprised when I learned that Barks, in fact, created Daisy's nieces, and that "Flipism" was their first appearance. They were not named in that story. Did he also eventually name them, or where they named by another writer? And when were they first used by someone else? April, May and June must rank as Barks' most uncelebrated creations.

I'm sure AM&J would GREATLY appreciate being taken out of those confining heels.

Come to think of it, it is a little weird that children as young as they are, are wearing heels. You would think they would be wearing pennyloafers or something. It's pretty strange that they can even fit their feet into those heels in the first place. I mean, look at the difference between them wearing shows and them not! Freaky.

Perhaps it was an oversight that made April, May and June have high heels in their model sheet, to wear ALL the time. Barks portrayed them wearing high heels because they were all dressed up because they were going out in the evening to a film, in Downtown Duckburg, Barks wanted to show the reader that Donald was roped into taking Daisy out on a "fancy date" (apparently to some premiere showing of a highly-touted film). Because this was Barks' (the master-and "authority on Duck comics canon") only portrayal of those characters, the writers who wrote them into Daisy Duck Diary and Grandma Duck's Farm Friends stories (ironically drawn by Barks, himself) they kept the girls in their original clothing (and so, it was easy for Barks to leave them the way he drew them originally, -without thinking about it enough to decide that that wasn't realistic.

Hmm that's interesting. I actually had no idea what story they first appeared in, so that quite enlightening to hear about their history.
