There's also a story by Marco Rota published during Gemstone's run (I think it was "The Golden Throne" or something like that). Mostly set in Australia, it has Magica trying to beat Scrooge to a golden throne fused out of a meteor that she knows to have alchemical powers. That particular story was beautifully drawn, but rather disappointing plot-wise (Scrooge and Magica never even meet, let alone confront each other, in the whole story). However, I do like the idea of Magica frequently vying with Scrooge for occult/mythological treasures; it gives creators the opportunity to use her in more than one type of story. There are only so many wrinkles writers can put on the "Theft of Old Number One" plot

I agree. We need more stories of this kind.

One of my favourite ones of Strobl. Very remarkable in this story is that Scrooge agrees with handing his number one dime over to Magica in exchange for the supposed giant golden nugget, explaining that the nugget was "much more worth" than the dime. I cannot recall any other story where he would do such. I can only think of some stories where he would give his dime away if his or his nephews lives are seriously at risk (e.g. in "Oddball Odyssey", US 40, where the sorceress turned the nephews into pigs).

In the story Huey, Duey and Luey find out that they had a pirate ancestor whos fortune was larger then Scooges (yep..) and - just like Scrooge he had a lucky first dime which got sunk with his ship. The story about the pirate end-up on tv and Scrooge freaks out since now Magica will learn about it and try to get the coin from the sunken ship it will give her the Midas Touch and she will become richer then Scrooge (plus by creating gold by will she will make the pirce of gold hit rock bottom) So Scrooge, Donald and the boys race agianst Magica to find the lost ship and get the coin... well you know how those things go ;)

Still an interesting concetp since they where trying stop Magica from getting something else that would give her the Midas powers, which is pretty bad on it's own...
