Review Or Die
I don't know if this is the right place to post it, please delete it if I am mistaken and with my apologies.

I'm a recent convert to Disney comics, with my interest pretty squarely focused on Gottfredson, Barks and Rosa. I recently did an interview with Don Rosa to promote Jano's Don Rosa Classics Deluxe Edition, and it got me to reading his old Duck stories again... and since I've got a lot of time and a lot to say, I'm doing a series, Don Rosa in Review, where I examine every Duck story he worked on that I have access to (which means that "Return to Duckburg Place" or one part versions not published in the US remain not available).

I'm not so much focused on the quality of the stories (though I will point that out) as much as I want to understand the Rosa continuity, his place in the Barks universe, how he interprets the Barks stories, comparing the characters, their growth, etc. There's a lot more ties and change going on in his comics than people realize and I'd like to point them out. I am NOT claiming that I understand why he did what he did in his stories, only how it appears to me as a reader. Death of the author is in full effect here, and his interpretation of his own stories are just a facet of discussion, not gospel.

My appreciation for him doesn't mean I'm going to gush, and I certainly encourage respectful criticism and discussion. I come at this from a very different perspective than a lot of you and I hope that this can provide something new even (and especially) for people who are very familiar with his work.

I hope I'm not stepping on GeoX's toes here, I greatly admire his stuff and link him in my first post (and expect to link him more when The Life and Times are discussed). Five are up so far and I intend to see this through to the end.

In my opinion the more websites we have spreading duck-awarness the better :)
I will read you're reviews sooner or layter and give you my opinion.

I just hop one day we get more that won't be just Rosa-Bark center but will honors the other (less know) creators as well.

I have other things I intend to review, not just Rosa comics. Once I get my hands on a copy of the first Darkwing Duck issue, it's my intent to review that first arc as well, since it's a personal pleasure of mine. I actually very much want to review the last run of the Mickey Mouse comic strip, when it became an adventure comic again. I've never read it, but I am absolutely fascinated by the idea of it, I just need a way to get a hold of the actual strips. But we'll see!
I have many failings as a Disney comics fan, so I imagine my perspective is not going to fall heavily in line with many.
And I'd read yours, but I'm afraid I don't speak a word of Polish. :)

Darn ;) The only Duck-related thing I wrote in english is this fanfic :

and even here it's a result of translating it from Polish ;)

Great, more reviews! I always love to read GeoX' reviews, or any, for that matter. I once planned to start a reviewing blog myself, called "Ode to the Disney Barks" and looking everything Barks ever did for Disney. But I postponed that, because I started working on something else, something you will hear about very soon (shameless self-promotion ahead). And yes, this time you will actually get to see it. :)

I have a contest up for you posters who know Barks far, far better than I ever will in this newest review. Flex your canon muscles!

I'm also think it's a shame Don Rosa never used Neighbor Jones agian (other then using him twice in art he did for various Disney magazines... and even then he looked pretty odd - http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=D+16427 - I guess Rosa forced himself do drawn modern-more recoginizable version of the character) I guess much like April, May and June, Jones was simply among characters Rosa didn't found that interesting or didn't had that many ideas for "Doland vs. Jones" stories above what already was done. To bad! I would love to see some more gags about Donald/Jones rivally in his current style plus with Rosa's talent to exlore characters it would be fun for him to do something interesting with his personality...
Then agian Jones is one of those character I like very much but at the same time he's one of those "Depending on the Writer" characters. Some make him a sympathethic but grumpy guy who simply get's annoyed by Donald all the time, some make him obssesive about any ocassion to be Donald's rival about something (with vice versa on Donald's side) and some make him total a jerk and a bully to the point he's almos a villian which I hat to admit is the version I least like...
