Quote from user: Roger NorthIs there anyone else out there who would like to save a Disney Afternoon show that is still in play? I can't save them all myself people.
I guess we have to assume that the remaining shows have no fans among this forum's members ... that certainly is true in my case. That would make more sense than simply saving a show for the sake of saving it, rather than really wanting to save it.
Personally, I only enjoyed DuckTales, Darkwing and CDRR; never really watched or liked the others. Quack Pack was a curiosity because of the fact that Donald and the boys starred in it (but it had little to do with Barks).

No, I like many of the shows on Roger's original list. If it makes anyone happy, I'll gladly save Aladdin and The Lion King's Timon and Pumbaa. Hell, I'll even throw in The Shnookums and Meat Funny Cartoon Show and The Mighty Ducks, even though I've never seen those two shows.
I guess I just don't understand the concept behind the list. Are we supposed to mention shows we like? In that case, I dislike 101 Dalmatians the Animated Series and Quack Pack. The rest of the shows on Roger's list I either like (in varying degrees) or have never seen.
If we're supposed to mention shows we wish would have continued after they ended, I'd say Gargoyles. Even though I've never watched it I hear Greg Weisman has plenty of Gargoyles ideas lying around, so that show might have had some life left in it. As for the rest... Do we really need more than 100 DuckTales episodes? Or more than 91 episodes with Darkwing Duck? I can't help thinking of the Simpsons which should have been killed off many years ago, but instead keep cranking out episodes with celebrity guest voices.

Thanks again Lars. I don't even care that you broke the rule about saving only one show at a time. I guess not many people liked the later Disney Afternoon shows. I only posted this thread to see if many people would care enough to save the shows and now I know that very few people care. I think I'll save 101 Dalmatians myself despite the fact that it was one of my least favorite shows on The Disney Afternoon.

In all fairness, Roger: most people are probably away from their computer, due to celebrating the new year. If you had waited a few weeks before posting your thread, there's a good likelihood you would have gotten more replies.

Obviously, I'm a big TaleSpin fan, and think it's the most well-crafted Disney production ever, so you know my vote ;)
I'm a bit disappointed not many of you chose it, save from the fact that there weren't new comics so maybe you don't remember it, what do you have to reproach it? It had mature AND fun stories, great characters with depth, very varied scenarios, pulp action like the 30's, action, adventure, comedies, mysteries etc...what's not to like?
I know many people didn't like it much when they were young, because they didn't "get it" (most notably Rebecca's personality) and like it much better now they're adults (Talespin even became their favorite for most) So I think more of you should rewatch it, you could be surprised! It's really the Disney show that holds up the best (and the opposite for Rescue Rangers, which to be honest, had scenarios for kiddies only and doesn't hold up at all, save for the nice main characters)
And I'm saying this objectively, considering I had never seen any Disney Afternoon three years ago, and now I've seen all of them, TaleSpin clearly is the best to me, followed by Gummi Bears and Ducktales. To me, Darkwing Duck is OK but way too repetitive, Gargoyles I didn't like much because it's not fun and has nothing Disney in it, and the remaining others are meh.
NB : Maybe I should add that I was a HUGE fan of Disney ducks back when I was a child (got one room almost filled with books, literally), and while I still love them to this day, just not as much as I love TS!

Steet I agree with you that Tale Spin was a good show as well as Duck Tales and Gummi Bears but I think Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck were all good shows. It's too late to vote unless you want there to be another round. I'll set up another round if there are enough people interested in this thread.

I must say I don't really the point of this topic, if it was to end up "saving" all the shows?
Currently I only hope this series would get a little more love, especially from Disney...(Well it's still fondly remembered, and our petition has been signed by more than 1500 people now :)

Hey...it worked for NickRewind, now there's a Block on Teen Nick reserved for 90's shows on Nickelodeon.
That's why I hope Disney Junior would life that weight from The Disney Channel and have The Disney Afternoon Block as well as Vault Disney again.
