Popular American independent comic book creator Evan Dorkin (Google 'Milk & Cheese') was in talks with Boom! at some point to do a Donald Duck story. It's a shame it wasn't used -- Dorkin's a funny guy.

Huh. So Boom was planning at some point on doing original classic-style material? That's very interesting--I would very much like to have seen what direction they'd have gone in.

I still can't help but think that if BOOM had started off with new material like Evan Dorkin's suggested story and stronger material like Casty's Mickey Mouse work rather than Ultra Heroes, Wizards of Mickey and the really bland Scrooge stories in The Hunt For the Old Number One, their Disney books might have gotten more of a running start. I wonder if Evan Dorkin ever thought of trying to sell the story to Egmont or one of the other European publishers?

Kneon, thanks so much for posting this here! That's exactly the kind of info-sharing I hope for from DCF. I never would have run across this otherwise, and I much enjoyed Dorkin's story outline. A very clever plot: I love how tightly interwoven it is. For instance, it's great that the spaceship-witness is ignored because the Bigfoot-hoaxers have just been exposed.
And Debbie, yes, the missed opportunities of BOOM are without number. Lots of more interesting stuff they could have printed!
