I'm in the USA, and I would very much like to buy a copy of the Dutch Donald Duck Sinterklaas-specials 2011; it has two stories I'd like to have. Does anyone have any idea how I can get this comic? I tried ebay.nl with no luck. Also tried googling "Netherlands comics stores" and such with no luck. Should I register on McDrake.nl and ask there?

You could do that. Start a thread in English telling what you want. You can use the following thread title, and just write the body of your post in English: "Amerikaanse Duck fan wil Sinterklaas Speciaal-2011 te krijgen" I know their are several members that would probably be glad to arrange for you to get one. Too bad I'm not there now. Otherwise, I'd do it myself. But we have about 7-8 regular Dutch members on this forum. So, you may soon get your response here.

Thanks much, Robb_K! I will wait a while and see if anyone on this forum can help me, and if not, follow your advice.

Matilda,
I live in the Netherlands and I will try to find a copy for you...?
Maybe you can email me?
David K
I never buy those! Keep in mind that it's all reprints!
Matilda
Joopjes, thanks! I will email you. David, this one's first story (one of the ones I want) is a new one by Evert Geradts, first published here, according to INDUCKS--a Sinterklaas lighthouse story (I'm a sucker for the lighthouse/Christmastide combination--I really like Jan Kruse's New Year's lighthouse story, which I have in Dutch). And though it's a reprint, I want the Cake House story, because the copy I have of it, in the German Micky Maus, has really piss-poor coloring (the gingerbread house is solid pink). INDUCKS' scans make me believe that the Dutch printing has much better coloring.

Ok.

Matilda, -can you read German and Dutch language?
Matilda
Robb--I can make my way through a German comic book, with the occasional help of a dictionary, online translator or a German friend (esp for the slang). Sadly, I can't read Dutch, but I can still sometimes figure out a simple comic story in Dutch with the help of Google translate and the like (and I have a relative who does know Dutch, who helps sometimes). I'm best at French--that's the first place I look, for stories that haven't been published in English. I actually often wish that the American school system had taught me more useful languages for the important things in life (i.e., Disney comics) than French and German: Dutch, or Danish/Norwegian/Swedish (learn one, you can read them all, I hear tell), or Finnish, or Italian....
