It's time for the 2011 reviews :)

1) What was in your opinion the best new story in 2011 (a story never published in an American Disney publication before)?

My favorite is Crisis on Infinite Darkwings.
I like the art by James Silvani and how he and Ian Brill used the characters and their history.

2) What was the best reprint story in 2011?

For me it's definitely Voodoo Hoodoo as part of the Carl Barks Library. At first it's uncensored finally! And after reading a few pages I have realized what a great job Fantagraphics did with the colors, page and print quality.

3) What was the best cover 2011?

My choice is Darkwing Duck #10A.
The art and composition is great.

I hope 2012 will not be the end of Disney comics in the US, but the start of a new long lasting a era!

I'll be honest, I don't know the Disney Afternoon comics at all, so I'll just stick to the Ducks and Mice for my answers. And I don't have many US 2011 comics, but I have two stories: "70th Heaven!" and "The Man Who Drew Ducks". These are just great stories. And "The Starstruck Duck".

Impossible to say. I'll just say the first two volumes of the Floyd Gottfredson Library as a whole. Now I can finally read these stories, and the books are beautiful!

Mickey Mouse 309. It just looks great. And there are some great illustrations in the Walt Disney Treasury books.

Exactly! Let's all give a good New Year's cheers to 2012, hopefully a good year for Disney comics!

I think the best story of 2011 was Casty´s "Marea dei secoli", published in the Italian Topolino comic book. It´s wonderfully drawn, really high suspense, very philosophical, 90 pages (none of them should be missing), one of the best Disney (and naturally Mouse) comics I have ever read! I hope that American readers (and also Scandinavian, French, German and so on) will have the opportunity to read the wonderful story in the future.

Man, I'd kill to read that Casty story. Maybe if I'm lucky it'll be serialized in France. Or, hell, even the US, but I'm very skeptical as to whether God loves us that much.

Anyway, as to the topic at hand:
Pretty limited amount of stuff to choose from, this year, if we're talking about US-only stuff. And in 2012--well, I shudder to think. It may well be nothing but the Fantragraphics stuff, which is great and all, absolutely, but?¦
Best New-to-Us Story:
Third Place: "The Man Who Drew Ducks." As lovely a Barks tribute as ever there was.
Second Place: "70th Heaven." An extravaganza! I've rarely seen Donald look as cool as he does here.
First Place: "Donald Duck, Special Correspondent." Maybe my feelings are partly colored by the historical value, but it was awesome to FINALLY see this come out.
Best Reprint
No suspense here; the two Gottfredson books obviously run away with the prize. Honorable mention to "A Day in a Duck's Life," though. Yes yes, it's one of Barks' worst stories, but I was amazed by how much life the Jippes redraw was able to inject into it.
Best Cover
Lotta good candidates here, too.

Was this ever actually released? Inducks doesn't list it. I know some people get all get-off-my-lawn about the idea of getting those new-fangled (or old-fangled, as the case may be) videogames mixed up with Disney comics, but it's clever and it hits exactly the right nostalgia buttons for me and I love it.

Great Barks artwork, and I love the old-book effect. DD 364 did the same thing, but this one is better.

As you no doubt recall, Boom did these awesome, art-y, title-less covers for MM304, DD363, and US400. Really, any one of them could qualify, but I'm going with this sweet Gottfredson art.

Wow! That cover is nice and I didn't notice it before.

I would love to see this story in an American (or German) comic book. Sounds great.

That's a cool one. I didn't see it anywhere before.
