Which are your favorite covers from WDC&S and Donald Duck was my supposed new topic here but that may wait (mine are all Barks DD FC 203, WDC&S 108 and DD FC 199 and 189 as I am a pure Barks fanatic).

I think there are also many nice early covers from WDC&S. The 29 cover which is stated as a Dan Noonan (?) with a question mark (in the fantastic Inducks database) is very good for example.

But I feel the cover artist statements may be a week spot in the data base for early WDC&S.

Walt Kelly who is stated to have drawn all covers from number 40 to Barks first cover was really very varied in his drawing style almost like Daan Jippes !
Some of his covers have a style I like very mutch such as WDC&S 42, 43, 56 and 63 (probably because of thinner lines of duck faces which I prefer) which are not that very far from Barks own early style, while quite many other covers are too "rough" for my taste 68, 72, 75 and 79.
I can accept though that Kelly did all these covers.

But I think the style of Dan Noonan (?) is too varied to be correct in all his credits. Obviously there is already a question mark for his credits.

The WDC&S 25 and 29 Noonan (?) cover style is to me extremely reminding of WDC&S 42 which is said to be done by Kelly, even if I may be staring too much on the Donald Duck face in my judgements.

WDC&S 32 by Buettner (?) is very similar to some later covers stated to be by Kelly.

WDC&S 36 and 38 by Noonan(?) are to me rather ugly compared to WDC&S 29 so are they really drawn by the same artist, why not Kelly instead ?

WDC&S 39 also by Noonan(?) is even more difficult with its typical Kelly-like motif.

WDC&S 28 by Buettner and 27 by Noonan(?) both appear to be similar to Kellys (versalite) style.

The fact that Kelly was extremely variable in his drawing style of the Ducks may lead to an assumption that other artists also varied their style but at least I find it more probable to conclude that the covers of WDC&S 25, 29 and 42 were made by the same artist.

I have been studying the INDUCKS information already now and then for a few years, and that is why I brought this subject up which I find interesting and I assume there are many knowledgeable forum writers here who may want to comment.
