Sad news of the passing of a Disney Comics Legend. I just read via Didier Ghez's Disney History Blog that Del Connell passed away on August 12, 2011.

Del was a prolific artist and writer at the Studio during the 1940s & 1950s. His comics career has Del credited (amongst other things) as the creator of Daisy Duck's nieces April, May & June, and Goofy's alter-ego of Super Goof. Connell became Editor-in-Chief of the west coast office of Western Publishing??s comic book division. He later contributed to the writing of the Mickey Mouse daily and Sunday comics strip from 1968 up to his retirement in the late 1980s.

Joe Torcivia has a nice tribute. Without wishing to take anything away from the man, however, I will note that--unless there's some behind-the-scenes information I'm not privy to--Barks himself has to take the blame for inflicting April May and June on the world, in his "flipism" story.

Geox is Right Carl Barks did create April May and June. Didn't Paul Murry create Super Goof? I always thought he did. Maybe They co created him.
Timoro
Paul Murry never write any scripts, therefore he was co-creator every time he introduced new character into his comics.

Lars Jensen
Del Connell did scribbles for the first Super Goof story. Paul Murry based his artwork for that story on those scribbles.

I guess most of the question marks concerning writers of American Disney comics could be replaced with the name Del Connell, if we only knew which ones...
