Hello.
One friend of mine is going to visit Germany and I'd be interested in getting some comic books. As I can see in Inducks, the english language edition of Lustiges Taschenbuch has been published two times, in July and September.
Can anyone please give me more information about this collection? has been cancelled? it's only published few times a year? It would be easy for a tourist, who only would buy it if it can be easily found, to get an issue of this collection?
Thanks.
Charlie Brown
The collection has not been canceled. I think new issues will be published from time to time (no specific frequency).
You can buy it at many newspaper stands throughout Germany. Especially newspaper stand in big train stations have a huge stock of Disney comics.

I'm under the impression they have been cancelled. They shouldn't be that easy to find, either. Even when they were new (two issues, published in July and September 2009) a lot of people had difficulty finding them.

But there wasn't any cancellation-statement from the publisher Ehapa?
I saw many of the 2nd issue last week at the main station in Hamburg.

As I though... Let's see what happens in the future...

An e-mail I received from amazon.de two days ago mentionned two issues of "Lustiges Taschenbuch-- Englisch Edition"; I ordered the first one, along with five other books (to balance the shipping costs a bit).

LTB Englisch Edition Band 01: Lustiges Taschenbuch Sonderedition. Stories from Duckburg
( INDUCKSed contents )

LTB Englisch Edition Band 02: Lustiges Taschenbuch Sonderedition. Stories from Duckburg

Interesting. So they decided to distribute them through bookstores, too (with ISBN). Originally, the books were only available at newsstands.

It seems there'll be two more in September and November respectively.

Anyone read these?

I noticed that now there's a boxed set of all four volumes, and I had to order it:

If you're familiar with Gemstone's DD and MM Adventures digests, you know what the stories'll be like. I imagine the writing may be a bit rougher, since they weren't specifically localized for native English-speakers, but that remains to be seen. Anyone else wanna chime in?
Charlie Brown
It seems to be British English. So some characters (like Goofy) speak not the typical way. But it's a nice collection of European stories - mostly published by Gemstone in the USA before.

If anyone's still interested in this, my boxed set finally arrived today, and I put a quick impressions post up on my blog.

I would be interested in hearing your opinions on it. I know Amazon American has yearly subscriptions to the German language edition of Lusigges Tashenbuch available, but I would love to get the English language ones somehow if possible. It sounded like an exciting project, but more info especially on included content would certainly be apreciated, so please review!

Thanks for the review Geo. The collector in me will probably have to pick this up on Amazon.
