So about maybe 10 years ago, my cousin purchased this book, and I absolutely loved it. Since then, I really dropped the ball on duck comics in general, but I always wanted to read this book again. Now, I'm looking to purchase it, but I'm not sure if they sell it in it's real former glory anymore.
See, the edition my cousin had was a really large paperback, with PROPER pages that you don't have to hold with your fingers to keep the book from closing in on itself. I cannot, for the life of me, find a version like this on the internet.
The best I can find is a lousy 10x9 inch paperback edition on amazon, which is actually 2 separate volumes. This is stupid in numerous ways. This is the average American paperback crap that is painful to read, because of the aforementioned pages closing on themselves, and the fact that it's needlessly split into two separate copies.
Does anyone here have any idea on where I can find the real version of this wonderful book, not tainted by the corporate bull**** of modern times?

I think you're confusing Don Rosa's opus of the same title with the Barks book. The latter hasn'nt been reprinted, as far as I know. So: go Abebooks or ebay.

You might mean the 1996 version of the L&T. I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet either. The only place so far that tells of its existence is Inducks.

You can see the particular edition you speak of at Gladstone/Bruce Hamilton websites -- even though it's still pictured - they sold out of copies a number of years ago, (believe me I tried). It was limited to only 1000 copies according to the website -- so it looks like you maybe stuck paying in the high three figures or into the four figures for it.

Uncle Scrooge: His Life and Times by Carl Barks was an oversize collection of stories by Barks (recolored by Peter Ledger). It was available in both hardcover and softcover from Celestial Arts and commands high prices on the collector market.

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa was published in several hardcover editions by Gladsone. This volume also commands pretty hefty prices on the collector market.

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa was later published in softcover by Gemstone and hardcover by Boom. The softcover version is out of print, but the hardcovers are still available.
